Changing Alchemy Mastery in Dragonflight Pre-Patch

I am currently a potion master in alchemy, but I want to switch to elixir master. I know how you used to be able to do this, but now…

A week ago (before Dragonflight Pre-patch) I noticed a little red x or whatever next to “potion master” in my profession book to let me drop it. I wish I would have done it then, because after the Dragonflight pre-patch dropped, that has gone away, and I can’t for the life of me figure out how to drop potion master to go get elixir master in the latest update. Can we just no longer switch?

I know the UI for professions has changed significantly, so maybe I am just missing it. Can anyone tell me how to drop potion master to pick up elixir master in the Dragonflight pre-patch?

Side note: I did the potion master quest during the original 1-300 grind of alchemy standing in Stormwind. I thought maybe I could talk to the SW trainer who gave me the quest to unlearn it and pick up the quest for elixir master instead, but that does not work.

Thanks for any help!

I don’t know if this still works as I’ve never switched, but maybe this is it?

I know it says TBC classic, but I think this is still how you specialize to begin with, so maybe this is how you switch too?

I did the potion master quest (same exact quest outlined here) with my SW trainer during the 1-300 grind. So I tried talking to them, but no quest, nothing where I could pay to change. All she did was show me the training window, which doesn’t have anything new for me to train. She didn’t have any dialogue or options. Nothing about changing.

I took my main alchemist to Zarevhi in Netherstorm, since he’s the one who used to give out the quest for Transmute Mastery. There was nothing in his window to unlearn it. Then I took another alchemist character who had no mastery at all yet, and still, nothing in his window except chat about what a skilled transmuter he is, but I guess he’s not going to share his methods any longer. Note that this second alchemist has not learned TBC alchemy at all, and I don’t know if that would affect the outcome of talking to Zarevhi.

FWIW, I believe that alchemy masteries didn’t proc from Shadowlands crafts, and I’ve read that you don’t get procs from any crafts after WoD. I suspect that you wouldn’t get procs from Dragonflight crafts either, so it probably doesn’t matter that it’s (apparently) no longer possible to change masteries.

Ok thanks, good to know! Our guild tends to use more elixirs that persist through death, so I thought it would be nice to procc a few more occasionally, so thought I’d switch for that chance. I didn’t realize it wouldn’t procc on Shadowlands elixirs. Someone in another thread mentioned “DF adds new mastery when you hit skill level 25” so we’ll see what Dragonflight holds.

YEAH having same issue and masteries still relevant as in im making living steel for various mounts still.
