I think Torghast is right on the cusp of being a great addition to the game. For me though, right now, I just dont find it enjoyable. These are some of my opinions on what could make Torghast better.
1.) Loot. Add some loot to the place. Anima, Gold, Crafting Materials (In addition to soul ash). I know cosmetic items are coming, but I dont think that is enough. Once you cap your ash, there is no reason to run. Once you get the tmog and mount, there is no reason to run. I am not asking for it to be a viable end game gearing option.
The lack of rewards aside from soul ash, just doesnt feel good right now.
2.) Bosses. The boss’s level of difficulty swing immensely. And for some classes they have an extremely hard time with them. Grouping increases mob health too much, and makes a run feel even more like a slog. The bosses need their health tuned down a bit. As the layers ramp up more, sure. They just feel over tuned right now.
I find that for my runs, I tailor all my anima choices for the end boss fight. I move through the tower at a slow pace, then I just melt the boss. If I take powers to mow down trash, the boss can be difficult.
3.) Length. Some of the floors are very long, and the layer ends up being a slog through. And it is just trash clearing. No rewards or drops. Floor after floor of trash. The Jailers Powers that summon adds, or assassins while thought to be necessary to prevent Cooldown cheeze, dont work. I can sit and just keep killing them till my CD’s reset. And they are not fun or interesting.
In my opinion if these aspects were changed, I feel Torghast would be amazing. Right now, for me, I just get my soul ash and am done. And even that, it feels like an unfun chore.
