Changes To Torghast That Would Make Me Like it

I think Torghast is right on the cusp of being a great addition to the game. For me though, right now, I just dont find it enjoyable. These are some of my opinions on what could make Torghast better.

1.) Loot. Add some loot to the place. Anima, Gold, Crafting Materials (In addition to soul ash). I know cosmetic items are coming, but I dont think that is enough. Once you cap your ash, there is no reason to run. Once you get the tmog and mount, there is no reason to run. I am not asking for it to be a viable end game gearing option.

The lack of rewards aside from soul ash, just doesnt feel good right now.

2.) Bosses. The boss’s level of difficulty swing immensely. And for some classes they have an extremely hard time with them. Grouping increases mob health too much, and makes a run feel even more like a slog. The bosses need their health tuned down a bit. As the layers ramp up more, sure. They just feel over tuned right now.

I find that for my runs, I tailor all my anima choices for the end boss fight. I move through the tower at a slow pace, then I just melt the boss. If I take powers to mow down trash, the boss can be difficult.

3.) Length. Some of the floors are very long, and the layer ends up being a slog through. And it is just trash clearing. No rewards or drops. Floor after floor of trash. The Jailers Powers that summon adds, or assassins while thought to be necessary to prevent Cooldown cheeze, dont work. I can sit and just keep killing them till my CD’s reset. And they are not fun or interesting.

In my opinion if these aspects were changed, I feel Torghast would be amazing. Right now, for me, I just get my soul ash and am done. And even that, it feels like an unfun chore.

  1. you want LOOT in repeatable solo content ? never gonna happen. I would see something like 5 anima per floor, lost if boss not defited. And btw it’s already looting greys items

  2. Bosses are fine. If you can’t beat a boss, try again with different anima powers / soulbinds / wait for more gear

  3. I would like it to be longer with more gloors before boss to gather more anima powers ;p

I would be VERY down for some loot along the way. Or a goal that isn’t just runeforging, like mounts/cosmetics.

You have mount loot (AND this mount is usable in MAW)

You have cosmetics loots.

You could pretty easily just limit the loot to only X times per week or something, like horrific visions did.

And make the ONE repeatable solo fun thing caped ? ;p

They don’t need to cap the actual number of runs you can make, just how many times you can get rewards from it.

You know, like they already do with soul ash =P

This is… acceptable.

I would say the terrible balance on the bosses would be a lot more tolerable if the rewards weren’t an all-or-nothing issue.

I would award Soul Ash on a % / floor complete basis, increasing to 100% if you manage to conquer the boss.

5% Anima Floor 1, 10% Floor 2, No aditional Anima for the Broker floor, 20% for the fourth floor, 35% for completing up to the fifth floor, and you get full 100% credit for taking the boss down as per usual.

This prevents the longer, sloggier runs from being completely mind numbing, and if the boss’s tuning is garbage and/or your Anima luck is on cooldown and, your time isn’t 100% wasted.

This is the only real issue I have with Tor right now. I enjoy the challenge of trying to make it to the very end and push the higher tier floors for the extra Ash, but getting to the end and wiping out on a boss or even just bad luck on some harder mobs with nothing to show for it doesn’t lend itself to repeat gameplay.
