Changes to Purchasable Game Time Options

It feels like they looked at their numbers and found that players who bought the expansion and a month of time failed to buy more time when their time ran out.

And instead of asking, “What could we have done differently to make these players want to continue to play?” they asked, “How can we milk these customers for more money?” And the answer was, “Force them to either buy a month of time they won’t intend to use when they want to come back for a month later, or subscribe (and maybe forget to unsubscribe).”

I had 5 accounts I was playing. I’m down to 2. I’m considering going free to play.

Many of the people on here to a greater or lesser degree enjoy the game still. But at the same time are not happy with all the changes happening to the game for many reasons.
Between in game issues to rl business practices.

Blizzard as a company is going to try to make the most money as they can. No matter how bad it looks. As for the state of the game in my honest opinion is very bad. For years many wow players feel blizzard is out of touch with the playerbase. That is a big factor even in this discussion here. Its been awhile since i last checked the post been playing wow on and off.

I Still do enjoy wow very much but feel its become a chore of late, Unless i am going for my own goals within the older content.
Shadowlands suffers due to blizzard inability to let players have fun.

Going off topic of the post a bit.

Blizzard has a huge problem with listening to the playerbase.

The problem with many game companies is they do tactics like this to test the waters before making worse changes in theory should make them more money, if they can trick thier consumers into it.
Its business sadly its why as consumers we have to be careful about what companies try to pull over our eyes.

Operative word is “CURRENTLY” … so that means at some point in the [near] future you’ll start charging me $30 for 60 days. I think it’s time to go … I can handle $15 bucks a month, that’s like a couple coffee’s or something but 30 bucks starts to impact Steam sale games etc. and WoW is literally Netflix background clicking… definitely NOT worth $30.

I think BYE Scott.

So… $15 for 30 days is okay.
But $30 for 60 days is bad.

Did you take any math classes?

Did you take math? simplification is key in math and most things in life.

Why should it it be 2/4 instead of 1/2 or 30/60 instead of 15/30

That’s what they have been doing before they were even known as Blizzard. They were always a for-profit company, the day they started their goal was to make money. Literally from day 1.

Why would you think? Better profit margin (lower cost to convert foreign currency to USD in N/2 blocks of $30 instead of N blocks of $15).

if they ever made the sub more then 15 dollars the game would probably die no joke people already complain that subs plus expansion plus in game shop is unreasonable for the content they pump out, and people just wouldn’t find the game worth it

The goal of all companies is to make money. One way or another. As you said they have since day one.

I have 21 years of game time in 6 month codes codes stashed. Think its enough?

Hmmmm may need more codes

I only have a single sample point. Have been trying to convince someone to play a bit of wow with me. When this person plays they generally play no more than a month at a time. In the past they would pay the $16.50 for 1 month. When sl started that increased to $20 a month. They have no interest in spending $40 for 2 months of game time when odds on they will only play 1/2 that.

just renewed for 2 months with bnet balance: i got charged $44 + got taxed for a further $4. so my sub is now $24 a month due to no more discount for bulk time, that’s bs man. thanks for charging more, you greedy animals.

Yeah this change is dumb. I can no longer buy blizzard battle.net gift cards for presents that allow the receiver to add game time. Like many others, the use-case is 1-month on, 1 month off. GG Blizzard.

So what about our free 6 month subscription store mounts?

Its pretty obvious that Blizzard wants to devalue our battle.net balance. They are hoping that more people will switch to using a credit card instead of the battle.net balance and bring in more cash from outside the system. They already have the cash from the tokens and they don’t want us to spend it.

For those of us that convert our gold into game time, this is a big kick in the teeth.

Just popping back in here to reiterate how much of a bone-headed, money grab this change was. :-1: :-1: :-1: :-1:

That is not how accounting works… This is like saying blizzard makes $0 when a player purchases a month sub for $15 and then blizzard “gives away” 30 days of gametime (worth $15)

Zenetta is correct here.

facepalm Ya cause limiting player’s options has always worked out so well for you in the past!
