Changes to Not Make for Classic Fresh

I’m seeing a lot of talk about changes to Classic. I agree that certain changes could make the game the best version of itself. For example, cracking down hard on bots, disabled world buffs in raids, and more difficult raids would all be good changes. But I’m also seeing other changes that would be blatantly going too far. These are the types of changes that will basically turn the game into modern WoW, defeating the entire purpose of Classic. Please be careful with this.

Examples of the worst changes I believe would ruin Classic:

  1. Addition of the WoW token
  2. LFR, LFD (a TBC style group finder for dungeons would be ok I think as it still encourages travel in the world which is more vital than people realize)
  3. Cross realm anything except maybe BGs

Edit:
4. Paid boosts

I agree. Keep the micro-transaction crap out. Keep away things that hurt the community like what you mentioned.

Gameplay changes in the spirit of Vanilla and dealing with issues that didn’t exist back then is the route they should take.

People want a pre made group finder like in retail, not the same as lfg.
I agree lfg is too much but I like the pre made idea.

As long as it’s not something that automatically ports you in and out of the dungeon and you’re playing only with people on your server, I think it’s ok. If not, not ok.

  1. more than 1-2 servers total since the population is likely to be pretty small.

Of those two aspects, keeping it server-only is the more important. I’m not saying porting to a dungeon is a good thing…but it’s not nearly as damaging as cross-server. At the end of the day, is spending an extra 10 minutes travelling to a dungeon that important? I don’t know. That’s the kind of convenience that isn’t game breaking.

Cross-server, however, is game breaking. It destroys the community. You’re just playing with random strangers. They might as well be bots. That they need to avoid. Whether it’s cross-server dungeons, or CRZ, or…whatever takes away from the sense of community and identity of a server.

It’s the kind of thing that leads to seeing no one out and about in the world which I do believe is a big deal, especially for pvp servers.

Pretty much what the poster above said. 2 years after Classic and I can easily say that my fondest memories were the p1-p3 battles in BRM. That all gets severely diminished if there’s porting to instances. Dungeon ports should be absolutely off the table.

I said I wasn’t in favor of porting, and you make a good case why it’s so bad.

And here we go with everyone and their brother talking about #changes.

Because that worked out so well the first time.
