Look we RDF supporters can’t expect for RDF to be introduced and not eventually have LFR come in for the same reasons we give RDF even if LFR has certain drawbacks that RDF does not have.
With that said here is my proposal for Blizzard (probably a terrible one, but hey at least I’m trying).
Let’s get the easy one out of the way, RDF. Right now we have the Titan Rune system that serves as an extremely potent catch-up mechanic so it will probably be carried forward into Cataclysm Classic even if it is called something else then. So disallow Titan Rune activation for an automatically formed group.
Flex… change is simple. Just skip the lower difficulty and add the feature to normals.
…and now for the biggest point of contention… LFR. The best I can come up with is to once against skip the two levels lower difficulty. Have the queue throw the group into normal with RDF’s 15% Luck of the Draw buff. Disable raid achievements outside of the main “Has complete x raid” achievement. Make the queue ensure all buffs and debuffs are covered, Blizzard has the info for what a “good group” comp-wise looks like they can force the queue to do that. Basically RDF with mostly disabled achievements and stricter comp requirements for the automated system.
Ultimately the goal was to allow for the automated system to allow for people to play but for things like TRD, Achievements, and better gear from higher difficulties to incentives moving onto premade groups and guilds.
Just don’t add LFR, add soft lockouts where you can join and leave when you want and remove master loot from pugs. Remove any bonus from using RDF.
I don’t know about removing master looter.
if I can’t have RDF in LKClassic, then I am absolutely going to Zipzo Cata-Classic into not having LFR.
pretty sure this is why the luck of the draw buff would exist in the first place, if you’re getting a perfect raid comp + 15% damage it’s overkill.
Not exactly. It is supposed to make up for the lack of communication, coordination, and familiarity a random PuG group has when compared to an organized group or a guild.
Imo, master loot wasn’t made for pugs. Having some group loot that prio your spec like retail would be best for pugs and closer to LFR loot system. The main reason I won’t pug is there’s just too many ninjas outside of guild groups. And Blizzard won’t do anything if you get ninja, I prefer to get a fair chance at rolls if I have to pug.
With Cataclysm removing any need for armor type that isn’t your own there isn’t much reason this couldn’t work.
That would just beed the Need before Greed loot system that already exist in-game… with maybe an added offspec button added. Game reading your other spec to decide that “offspec” allowance.
Sure but that’s still better than just need before greed. I’m not saying it’s complicated if anything it’s pretty simple.
So create your own group that isnt using it. Master loot for raids is BiS.
So why would people want to join my group if they think I might ninja? That’s the thing.
Sucks to be you then. Master loot should stay.
Or not. It’s not needed for pugs and they could make it guild only like they did before. If other groups want to use it they’re free to join a guild to raid with master loot.
This would also remove the possibility to HR which reduce the amount of groups you can join if you need that item.
Nah, everyone else doesnt need master loot taken away because you fear someones gonna ninja. You have every tool available to control how a group you make operates. Exercise it.
Yes I join guild groups and I don’t pug because the pug scene is terrible without soft lockouts and master loot.
That’s what I can do.
Doesn’t mean I can not want pugs to get better and that it wouldn’t be better for the game.
Good, you made a choice that suits you best. Problem solved.
Same can be said if they removed master loot from pugs. You would still have a choice.
Are you afraid to not be able to monopolize loot in pugs?
I wouldnt have the choice to have master looting in pugs.
Monopolizing loot? I dont ninja anything and I dont go in fearing someone else is going to either. Im not weak.
You could join a guild made for that group to raid. But it would mean that master loot for pug would be the harder choice because people wouldn’t want to do that. So it would balance it out for everyone else.
It happened to me too many times and to people I know not to care. I think it’s weak to think that current situation benefits anyone other than people that want to monopolize loot in pugs and be able to control the pug scene. Or guilds that can’t fill their raids and still want to reserve loot.
I can also join a pug that is using master loot while you create your pug that uses the system you prefer to use. Choices are awesome, they shouldnt be taken away.
You know what happens almost every single time a master looter forgets to switch to master loot and group loot is used? People need on things they cant use.
No system is perfect. If you dont like a system you have every tool available to not use it.
