Changes between 1.0 and 1.12 to VC

Yup, that’s why I only do VC runs. :smirk:

Its hardly about anyone getting confused and you know it.
It’s just wrong and very retailesque.
We’re trying to banish your filthy retailbaby habits from classic is all.
Trying to teach you de wei. How it was in the beginning, as it will be in the end.

I don’t join BRD runs, only STT.

A lot of Alliance groups did accidentally pull the entire ship, wipe, and then disband upon seeing respawns.

Though I still think a big reason for it being called VC is just that one of Westfall’s major questlines leads into simply telling you to go kill Van’cleef and bring his head back(and it’s pretty easy for a new player to miss every other Deadmines quest).

People on my server in Vanilla were calling it VC from day 1, mostly because a lot of them didn’t realize they were going to be running a dungeon called Deadmines. They were trying to do that quest.

Exactly, people didn’t know better, but now we all know what deadmines are, hence DM.

Theres no other type of defined run. hence why it is jist called a DM run. You know, the dungeon name, like you would call every other normal dungeon run.
You need to free yourself from the leash retail has on your struggling mind.

I agree, I’ve played since the vanilla stress test where you had to pay FilePlanet $8 to get in.

Been calling it VC ever since.

Well I’ve been calling rogues rouges, doesn’t mean I’ll keep calling it wrong.

So what youre saying is, because YOU made a huge error in judgement 15 years ago,
It is now millions of other people who should change to suit your personal error?

No, just adapt.

It’s a name that stuck, and it’s not going away. It’s not like people don’t know what it means if level 18 in Westfall is posting “LFG VC” anyway.

It’s just going to be one of those things like pineapple on pizza or which way to put the toilet paper that the internet jokes about and a few people take entirely way too seriously =P

Nah, man. You guys just lacked the foresight to see Dire Maul was coming. :smirk:

You said it yourself, people didn’t know what Deadmines were, but now we do, so if you’re looking for group for Deadmines, it’s LFM DM, or LFM Deadmines. It’s reasonable from your point of view, but there’s people who call the dungeon it’self VC because there’s Dire Maul, like that matters with DME, DMW and DMN.

me too and we called it DM back then too, lol.

Sorry for hijacking your thread, OP. It’s just too funny to drag these guys along with this… Literally who cares? If you have a fit every time you see VC instead of DM, you might want to seek help with sorting out your priorities.

And if you can’t understand people calling it DM now that we have actual information of dungeon, you should seek some help too, friend.

It’s all good.
Honestly, to me, this vc/dm thing looks like some sort of weird WoW flex that will probably calm down once the game comes out. No one ever cared and no one actually playing will.

Anyways, I am going to try to track down old videos or something.

When the game first came out almost 4 years ago, Van Cleef was a level 24 elite with 4 level 22 elite adds. Whereas the rest of the instance was between level 15 and 21, hence very doable by a group of level 19-20 people, VC and his adds would prove to be impossible to beat in green/white gear when the game was 2 weeks old. Remember, there weren’t any level 60s to rush you or anything at that time, and other lower level people would be too busy levelling up to rush you, because those who got the game in the first few weeks, they are the ones who really want to see the contents of the game as soon as possible, or else they could have waited till later to buy the game.

This is why doing Deadmines and doing Van Cleef would be two completely different things. When people were looking for group, they had to specify if they were going to attempt VC, which means that they won’t be inviting anybody under level 21.

Over the years, VC had been nerfed several times and has become trivial. But the short form of VC to use in place of DM had to stick, especially after the introduction of Dire Maul in March 2005, which would cause confusion in chat channels.

Only the most old school of WoW players would know this. Those who refuse to call Deadmine as VC are just showing how not old school they are.

Its called Deadmines … or DM… VC is not a thing

Biased article, people who refuse to call it DM are just trying to sound edgy, as in “I’m oldschool”.

And that big debate…VC vs DM still occurs to this day on pservers when you get to Westfall.

It wasn’t until we had server merges that we all found out that some servers called it DM and others called it VC.

On Malygos we called it DM.

The eternal debate that will never be settled !!!
