My guild is currently doing a storyline in South Kalimdor. I’ll hint that it involves shadowflame, bugs, titan stuff, and the occasional dinosaur and Explorer’s League Researcher. The story is self-contained, but there’s probably a hundred things that could eventually link it to The War Within once prepatch happens.
I may even get a bunch of narrative luck again and prepatch is right there. Once prepatch drops, we’re there in TWW anyway, though.

I really like the idea of going with your own story where it may or may not sync up with the main one but knowingly dropping enough hooks that it should be easy to join up.
It’s like marinating your chicken for a day before cooking it vs just adding a little salt and pepper as you toss it in the skillet. Tastes vary but I appreciate my stories well seasoned.
