Change when?

Imo this is the biggest issue with pvp.

Yes, queue times are bad however I feel this just makes it worse.

@Blizz what are your plans to lower queue times and fix mmr.

Queue time are predominantly related to participation. Unless they broaden out the acceptable MMR range, queues will stay the same. If you realllly want to improve times, improve the overall experience for healers.

Remove healers, rebalance the game to not be insanely shallow without them. Bam queues are instant forever

I mean he’s right. It feels like trash going into season one with high hopes and having rating be suppressed due to the siphoning of the player base into shuffle. Add in knowing that I’ll likely not see another opportunity to reach a new high until the next expansion when there’s another “season 1” is kinda dookie. TWW is gonna have the same problem cuz they are gonna release rated bg blitz… if they don’t adjust something for arena this decline is gonna continue until it really feels like the only reason to queue up is if you already have a btag full of buddies that are 9x glads cuz that’s what you’re competing against at 2k so you better bring the same.

Good take. Honestly though I’ve played eastern mmo’s that don’t have healer systems and they typically feel ok PVP wise.

I think WoW not revolving around holy trinity (healer/dps/tank) for PVE/PVP would be a huge but not impossible task. Not sure how well received it would be though.

BnS was enjoyable while I played it and the arena while 3v3 was more like 3v3 1v1 and you could tag in and out.

BDO I didn’t try the 3s that came out but most classes felt pretty well designed for 1v1 combat with obvious tuning outliers.

WoW to pull anything like that would need like a FF realm reborn level of reboot but I would love to see a WoW reborn if anything I personally think the game is long overdue for a hard reset on everything within it. The classes/specs/abilities etc. Just have collections carry over for obvious reasons.

I think we might be heading that direction with the new expansion trilogy. Just completely decimate the world/factions/classes everything and start new

blizz might just do a soft reset to get rid of faction system tho.

When you play the first month of a season and come back at the end of the season to go negative w/l and still magically gain 300 rating something’s not right. If you only play for rating then why even play the first half of any season?

I’m often wondering this. Cookie clicker is right there. The number goes way higher

The entire system needs a vast overhaul. The way it is setup now encourages people to not play until the very end of season. Ratings are also very inconsistent. 2400 for example can mean VERY different things depending on where we are in the season…and how inflated the season is (looking at SL S2 for example).

Due to the above, arbitrary rating requirements like 1600, 1800, 2100 for rewards can be excessively difficult, or ludicrously easy. There’s no consistency. People get very discouraged and frustrated when the previous season they got duelist, and new season starts and they’re hardstuck at 1400.

Lastly, if you’re only goal is to get 2100 for example, you can do so with your preferred bracket and never touch the others. I personally think each bracket (2s, 3s, RSS) should have their own rewards associated (titles etc), this would encourage people to participate in different brackets.

IMO, the best fix would be to return to a percentage-based reward system, and make it based on live ladder (for example, as soon as you hit top 10% of players, you automatically get rewards). I think they should turn the rewards on after first 2-3 weeks of the season so that someone can’t get duelist by simply being one of the first to login and win a 2s game.

I also think they should make rewards a bit easier, as generally that attracts new players and gets more people playing as well. They should do something like this:

top .2% - rank 1 (end of season reward only)
top 1% - gladiator (end of season reward only)
top 3% - elite
top 5% - duelist
top 10% - rival II
top 20% - rival
top 30% - Challenger II
top 40% - Challenger I
top 50% - Combatant II
top 60% - Combatant I
top 65% - initiate

I also think they should add a unique top 1% title and rank 1 title to 2s, similarly to how they do with RSS.

I sat in LFG last night for 2 hours as a freshie in full greens and not a single person signed up. Lfg is and has always been awful if you arent already geared/playing a strong class or spec.

At least with shuffle you get to play the game.

150% your issue. Tail end of the season and boxes are out. That’s on you for showing up
To class for the first time in the last week of the year and expecting to pass

Yes being a human being with a job and a family and deciding to randomly play wow means you should suffer needlessly, we get it.

This isn’t just some one time anecdote. Lfg has always been mostly an awful part of the game, why do you think RSS is so popular. Ive met plenty of cool people through it as well, but the amount on my ignore list far outweighs any positive experiences.

I have a job and a family to travel for work a lot and miss the start or end of seasons too.

Doesn’t affect me being able to play WoW but I’ve also done a little networking to make sure I have people to play with.

To my point though it’s a seasonal game and you’re showing up to the end of the season extremely behind and complaining about the lfg tool?

If you’re fully geared and at whatever rating are you gonna play with a returning player with no gear and no rating? Or are you just a hypocrite venting excuses

I’m convinced LA’s team elimination 1v1s is the future of PvP. It just needs to be in a better game. 1v1s being the greatest form of combat for players, spectators, and developers plus the ability to play with friends.

I don’t think you’d have had that experience if there wasn’t a shuffle eating up all the aimless players

Greens like crafted?

I’d suggest getting full honor gear (not too hard), then make a “yolo chill 2s” group.

I’ve always had some success doing that without caring about rating.
