Change to action bar hotkeys

Why was the ability to change action bars with the shift key removed? Having an option to turn it off to appease people who use shift key modifiers is one thing. But to remove a CORE function of the game that has been around for coming close to 15 years? What is that all about?

Edit: To save people the trouble of reading, even though it appears they turned it off by default (after 14 years, yeah I’m still sour about it) it can still be rebound in keybindings under interface and “set action page”. Post from me was premature in anger, carry on.

I was premature in my anger cause I am so used to it. They just turned them off by default it seems, it’s still available in interface options under “set action page”. By default, for the last 14+ years, you can press shift + 2, etc to bring up your 2nd or 3rd action bar. These usually aren’t needed as most people use action bars 3-6 as extra action bars located at the bottom and right of the screen, but 2 is very commonly used for professions and less common things across many people I know.

I didn’t notice because I’ve rebound next/last action bar to just my mouse-wheel for 14 years just by default.

I know your were mad and the issue is resolved, but I gotta wonder, what do people actually swap actionbars for? Even without addons, you have access to 4 bars, which is more than enough. With addons, you get a few more.

Can be useful if you set key binds differently for different content - raid vs PvP… for example

If your a clicker doesn’t matter so much

I use bar 2 for mounts and class-specific buffs and utilities, like often-used teleports. I was quite unhappy to find that unbound. Though since the 2-3 second lag is making the game unplayable, I guess I’ll spend my time fixing it on all my characters.

Having stuff that I use maybe once every week or so, profession buttons come to mind. Or, just the other day I was on my laptop without my MMO mouse that I have at home, where I didn’t have access to my mouse button 4 (not rebound to a key, literally just mouse button 4) activates my hearth on a hidden bar, I know it’s bar 4 so I go to do that by pressing Shift-4, which doesn’t work now(since I’m on an alt for the first time since Tuesday), and then had to rebind all my action pages again.

I understand having the idea to remove it is good, a lot of people use shift based macros. It’s just frustrating that it was changed after literally 14+ years.
