I was just looking at some screenshots of Kul Tiras, and was struck by how pretty this zone is, and wondered why it hadn’t really hit me like that before. I realized it was because the sun was out and the sky was blue.
Because of my time zone (+7), I rarely get to see zones in daylight, because the in game day/night cycle is locked to a RL 24 hour cycle.
This is a mistake. Let people see a variety of ‘times of day’! Put more sunsets and sunrises into our day!
Changing to a 6 hour cycle would allow all players from all time zones to experience more variety in the world. Please, let’s do this.

IMO, get off the cycle, and let people choose what weather they see on their screen! Rain too!

Do Inky Black Potion still exist?

Seeing time pass in game is cool and engaging, IMO. But if someone wanted to lock themselves into day or night, I don’t really have a problem with that.
Yes but all I see is mostly night. I want to see the sun in game.

I get where you’re coming from, but I like it the way it is. I’d like it to be darker, in fact. Like it used to be. For everyone, not just with a personal potion.

Darker in the night time would be nice.
I just hate being stuck with night all the time.
I’m almost perfectly opposite time zone from NA, so it’s always night for me.

Just make Inky Black Potion a 1min CD Toy and call ti a day…

I actually dislike darker nights, personally. But my vision isn’t as good anymore and brightness settings just make the game look bad. People should have an accessibility option to change it either darker nights, daytime or nighttime.

I think it really makes a big difference for those of us with more fixed schedules when it’s a shorter (or significantly longer!) cycle. You feel it in another popular MMO that should not be named, where you really get to experience a full range of environmental states.

How will that help me see sunshine in game?
I remember reading how back when they were working on Vanilla wow, night time was going to be darker and you would need a torch to see your way through. There were items in the files for torches, flint and a few other items like it was going to have a secondary profession for camping, etc.
Naw. Every other MMO has a fast cycle.

Hrm, well I guess I’ll look at that later when I’m on my pc, because i don’t run a vpn on my phone and Wowhead has blocked my region.
Still, I think a faster cycle would make for a better experience for everyone.

Neat concept, terrible execution since for some inexplicable reason it has a 24 hour cooldown. I don’t even think it persists through death. That’s bad design even for Blizzard, especially when you realize there’s also a night version of the toy that only has a 1 hour cooldown.

They make vague reference to potential legal liabilities outweighing the amount of traffic. It’s 7 or 8 countries blocked, essentially all in Asia.
Wowhead says it’s their parent company that did it, and they objected, but the result is the same.

That’s all kinds of messed up. “legal liabilities” what?!?! for existing in a country.
And sort of ridiculous too. I look at wowhead every day still, just i have to turn on a vpn on my pc first.
I think the cycle should be either 30 minutes or an hour. No reason to be tied to the real world. We could even have enemies and events tied to in-game day period with that and it wouldn’t be a drag to wait for the cycle.
