With certain Covenant abilities making a return to some classes, I think its time to start thinking about maybe redesigning the fantasy around those spells to match the core class fantasy because they just look out of place outside of the shadowlands.
I think most of us dont need a reminder of SL as it is, and these abilities being moved into dragonflight with zero changes kind of has me worried.
**EXAMPLE **:
Instead of night fae shifting power for mages … it could easily be changed with ice animations in mind to — ‘glacial power’ and the animation could involve you channeling a snowstorm similar to how shifting power already works currently.

Is it? I think at the final part of any expansion it’s time to move on
I really don’t want to give up Mind Games as a talent, but I really hate how red it is. It is the only spell with that scheme and looks super weird in shadow form.
There are covenant abilities in the DF talent system.

They won’t really be covenant abilities at that point. I think having race specific looks could be cool but very time consuming
Blizzard is the one who decided to give them to us
They’re covenant abilities because they came from the covenant system. Just hoping the mechanics can be decoupled from the Covenants more.
If they’re part of the talent tree they’re not covenant abilities anymore.
Semantics I guess

True, it’s just weird for (in my specific instance) there’s one super bright red ability in my sea of gold and purple. Just changing the hue of Mind Games to purple would be more than enough.
That’s the point the OP is making. Make them class specific effects and not Covenant specific.

And I wholeheartedly agree. Apparently
