Can Blizzard please allow us to change spec while inside the BG. I think it would be better for everyone and more fun.

It would unfortunately be exploitable and lead to imbalances. When they first introduced the role queue a lot of dps would sign up as heals thinking they’d get faster queues even though healer queues were often longer than dps queues. Blame those guys, they’re why they made the change as I recall though the events were some time ago. I mainly remember the few days after they made the change, the dps tears when they were forced to heal then they’d just hide somewhere.

short answer; yes, but only within the same roles. like if a feral switches to balance, who cares.
suddenly switching to a heal spec though, yeahhhhh dunno about that.
then again, anything a player can do on team A can be done by one on team B, so /shrug but overall, probly not a workable idea
there is no balancing in bgs. i’ve been in plenty of bgs that have 4 healers on one side and 0 on the other. if blizz does any kind of matchmaking in BGs, its indecipherable, so might as well let dps switch over to heals if their team is short on healers.

I doubt that even happens. For example, the game matches 10k hp players vs 100k hp players. This leads to gy camping and such. The game matches premades with randoms as well. I doubt they even do any sort of balancing to these random battlegrounds.

You can during pregame. As long as same specialization (ie dps to dps or for priests heal to heal).

I accidentally queued as blood (my usual spec) when I wanted to play frost and I could swap
Nice. Outside of healers we should be allowed to (since heals are part of making the roles teams equal in roles).

I see no issue with doing it pregame, I mean premades may attempt to exploit it (they could just hide the enemy team makeup until match starts), but FFXIV allows it (to any job), so you can queue as alt and earn XP as your “main”. The system makes no attempt at balancing healers, so better than nothing.
The problem is when 1 faction has a resource abundance (healer, team, equipment) and the other is poor. No matter what the matches will come out imbalanced. Undoubtedly the algorithm could be improved it’s just there will always be some imbalance due to the faction division.
What if… I zone into an instance and I’m the only healer and I don’t want to solo heal so I switch to dps? Would that be OK?
Idk why i cant swap from one dps spec to another in a bg, it is pretty lame.

It does not let me swap from enh to ele. Nor MM to Surv on my hunter.

You used to be able to swap freely but when they began role call people would queue as heals then swap to dps thinking they’d get faster queue times thereby defeating the purpose of the role call. The issue then was people changing roles, I don’t see any reason to prevent changes within the same role but there might be some technical concern.
you can change your spec before the match can’t you? it would be pretty silly during a game i think. i’d like to try it out and see how it goes though to be honest. it might add a different dimension.
They mean after you accept the queue but before the match starts, so if you see your side has 5 healers in a 10 man you could switch to dps or if you’re healer lite… you get the idea.
