Just wanted to pick peoples’ brains on the current R1 system;
Should R1 be 1 title per class/spec per account?
I feel like, especially with longer seasons and very minimal balancing, the ladder meta revolves a lot around rerolling fotm comps. We see a ton of R1 spots being taken up by people playing alts of the exact same class/spec with the same people.
Personally, I don’t think that three players should be able to take up 15 slots by playing 5 rmp or ret/war alts. What do other people think?
That’s just not true. There’s nothing stopping people from Qing one game a week or w/e and then swapping to play the same class/comp with the same people except a 20s inconvenience of a logout timer.
Incentives to queue alts is cool, having the same team eating up 9-16 of the however many titles seems a little unfortunate, though. Perhaps have alts get a title, but not occupy a slot. Or maybe have the title be account-wide BUT class locked?
I feel like if Blizz ends up ever looking at named glad/r1 they’ll just knock it down to 150 wins above 2700 or something and call it a day so they don’t have to worry about it.
playing once a week isn’t going to be enough for players to maintain r1 if everyone else is playing more, are you assuming everyone on the ladder will be playing once a week?
While rating decay would’ve been a useful thing s1 where people sat for months, it’s been irrelevant last season and this season. R1 cutoff has gone up last season and this season by like 3-400 points in the last few weeks of the season. Literally no one has sat and everyone has to queue.
Yet even with everyone Qing, there are several people who have had 3+ r1 slots by playing the exact same class and spec with the exact same people.
Decay is an entirely separate conversation that doesn’t apply to this scenario.
Idk what to tell you other than you’re wrong. Everyone this season and last season above cutoff has actively Qd a majority of the season and everyone had to Q last few weeks.
You can look at xunamate to verify this.
At any rate, there are currently just under 120 horde spots and ~ 55 ally spots.
Of those 175 currently eligible, 43 are alts of the exact same class/spec (I don’t count Corey’s two healers, for example, because they’re different classes).
you saying no one sat is literally a meme and you have no clue what you are saying or you are just delusional
rudar hasn’t queued in close to 2 weeks now on his main boomy and it’s still 3300, laros and clapper both haven’t queued for almost 2 weeks now and they are still 3200 + on ladder, hots was literally 3180 on his shaman that he hasn’t queued for literally 2 weeks
what do you mean no one sits LOL? people literally didn’t play for close to 2 weeks and their rating is still at the top of the lader and if rating decay exists their mains would be decaying already for not playing for over a week
open your eyes bro
oh, and not to mention while they didn’t play for 2 weeks their mmr is passively going up, not that i have anything against those players i listed i am just giving you an example of how you are clearly delusional when you think people currently actively q more than once per week on their mains
Those players are all still actively Qing and playing the game, though. If they had to Q up and play a single game to avoid decay then they would, and their rating would be almost exactly where it is.
Decay wouldn’t effect that at all.
Also, the cutoff has gone up 200+ points in the last two weeks, and is likely to increase. R1 cutoff likely to be 3250+, so they will still HAVE to queue. There is no way that implementing rating decay changes that.
Explain to me how you think implementing rating decay would change the current system where 25% of r1 spots are alts.
Use your brain. Think about the argument you’re trying to make instead of just wanting to be right.
qing once every almost 2 weeks is actively playing the game? LOL
my dude you are straight up delusional
r1 cut off goes up means nothing under the current system; players still benefit more from sitting than they would otherwise should blizzard decide to remove weekly mmr inject every week and implement a decay system instead to punish those who sit
Clapper, hots, and rudar (just to use the examples you chose. There are other ones like maldiva and ozz as well) have played dozens of games almost every day for the past 2+ weeks. They’re just playing on alts. And even then, all of them (except maybe rudar) will need to play their “mains” that they’re currently “sitting” on before the season ends with how much the r1 cutoff is increasing.
If rating decay was implemented, they’d Q one game on the mains and then continue to do exactly the same thing they’re doing now and have been doing for the last two seasons.
Playing a single game once a week or w/e the arbitrary rating decay threshold is at would not effect or change what is happening. At all.
Also, Inflation works to solve the “sitting” issue in almost exactly the same way, and worked fine this and last season.
yeah they should just make it class account wide like class specific transmog
people will still q 2 alts at high rating to leapfrog but it wont eat 9-12 spots because the same ret/warr snipes and 1-n-dones on 3 sets of alts every night
unique spots would triple
but knowing blizzard at this point they’ll probably make r1 0.5% to depopulate 3100/3200 in favor or populating 2700/2800 zzz
your iq just seems to be too low to understand that under the system right now players get punished less for sitting due to mmr inflation vs a system where mmr weekly inflation is removed and there is only decay
idk how to dumb it down for you further that if there isn’t mmr inflation at all people who play one game a week would be at a much bigger disadvantage versus the current system where people can afford to play once every 2 weeks and their mmr still passively goes up a bit every week
