Auto cast growl should not be a taunt as much as a threat increase, same can be said for other pet taunts.
As a tank, who often does rare mobs and such, I find it annoying to have a pet taunts a mob off of me, more so when the mob needs to be moved for whatever reason. I don’t want to take protection away from pet classes (locks/hunters) but seeing how some pet classes fail to manage their pets it seems like the taunt would be better off as a threat increase unless hard casted.
I’d even take a pet taunt going above any non-tank threat wise, just make sure actual tanks are able to hold threat above a growling pet unless they really slip up.

I tank rares around ZM when I’m on my Warrior or Death Knight, it literally doesn’t matter. If anything it frees you up to focus on throwing out more damage to kill it faster while it eats the braindead Hunter/Warlock’s pet.

If the mob does not need to be moved, it is still annoying but I can easily cope, but say the mob drops ground based AoE that it should be moved out of if there are melee also fighting the mob. What brought about this request was Vitiane which drops stuff on the ground that it really should be moved out of, also there was that little armored vaultbot in Mechagon during WoD, the one that needed eihter a key or to be kited to a laser to destroy yet hunters and warlocks with auto growl (or whatever their taunt skill was) made the kiting hard if not impossible.

Pet taunt is fine. If it’s not a taunt, then it’s useless.
People are the problem with your rares, not pets.

So taunt after the growl or just let the ranged DPS handle it.
If some idiot Hunter or mind-rotted Warlock wants to waste slivers of everybody’s time by playing as if they chug glue on the daily that’s their cross to bear, and frankly I feel for them if they actually don’t know what they’re doing.

Did you get stabbed in the head? the request is coining from one that has to try and deal with taunting pets, I.E>.I am the one that WANTS THREAT .
If anything, I am asking for it to have slightly different mechs based on if it is auto cast or hard casted.
How many like hearing things like DBM go off because of things that in other content would need to be avoided? I said nothing about danger per se, just the idea that there are things people and mobs need to be moved out of.
Yet which would be easier to change, people’s behavior or how pets work? You are right that people are the issue but why can’t it be a switch for things that are on autocast?

I don’t have DBM for ZM rares.
It’s just that rares die so fast it’s really not an issue.

Nothing needs changed. Those rares die anyway. It’s fine.
Pet taunts are the single most annoying, obnoxious thing when out questing.
It sucks to have a group of mobs you’re trying to kill and some hunter pet comes running in taunting and pulling mobs out of the group.
Super annoying.
Worse when the hunter follows you around. I just fly away and go do something else.

Only one and it’s almost irrelevant these days. The others just need interrupts so their heals don’t go off.
Or you use misdirection on your pet…but shhh, don’t tell that to OP.
The OP has been trying to tell you he’s not a hunter but I think has given up.

Eh, maybe on higher pop servers, and then there are rares and rare elites, it tends to be the latter that tend to have things they need to be moved out of for reasons.
