Chances of a PuG doing Ossirian?

I know it will happen, has happened. Just wondering what to expect with PuGs

Pugs are killing Ossirian all the time

They kill him, but I find this boss is usually messy.

Never had more than 1 wipe on him with a pug.

Seen some clowny casters start big nuking before he was even in position but most runs have been perfectly smooth.

It really more depends on how familiar the tanks are with the fight, as most of it relies on them getting Ossirian to the next crystal in time.

Definitely the boss pugs have the most trouble with but I dont think I’ve ever had an aq20 fail completely

Killed him several times in pugs so far.

He’s easy and the crystal range is pretty far. First clear raid leader though you had to basically poke him in the butt with the crystal to get him debuffed. Once it was known that wasn’t the case, its a super easy fight if the tanks manage the swaps and your healers lead the tanks instead of following them.

I’m more impressed that PUGs are farming BWL, since it is much more sensitive to execution on some bosses.

It really depends on how well people know the fight - it required 1-2 decent tanks, enough healing and Mages/Druids to be actively dispelling the healers & ranged DPS. And good enough DPS that the fight doesn’t last too long that healers start to go OOM.

Long as you have communication, you will.be fine.

This fight was a bit of let down for me.

It was the first boss encounter where I ever experienced progression and multiple wipes. Took my vanilla guild a couple days worth of attempts to down him and the moment we finally got him was pure bliss.

Probably one of my fondest memories of og vanilla. Hope you enjoyed my ted talks!

Pugs are farming AQ already. Not all bosses though

Let’s be honest. For Ossirian the only real mechanic is the pylons. You need your main tank to be on the same page as whoever is pulling pylons, but otherwise it is tank and spank. The guys roaming around the boss room before you pull him have tougher mechanics.

Just tell your caster DPS to hold off on DPS until second crystal and the rest is just kite and tank and spank from there.

Ossirian is almost entirely about tank movement and having a single clicker assigned. You don’t need to do anything fancy, but the occasional wipe is to be expected if the whirlwinds are bad or the crystal pattern is very bad.

I pug this twice a lockout, once as a tank and once as a mage. My instructions for this are –

Assigned clicker only clicker unless they ask for help (me as mage but not me as tank).

Tanks must STRAFE and not backpedal. This is the first boss in Classic where this matters and folks do need a reminder not to be bad.

The fight pattern is click > move > dps > repeat. Make sure ppl understand movement is the most critical part.

Always always be between the boss and where you are headed next, no matter who you are.

I also suggest any tankable character be ready to grab aggro/put on a shield/blow shield wall. Plus I recommend the tanks have a FAP available for the execute phase, but this isn’t necessary just useful if their OT is dead.

To be fair, the first 5 bosses in AQ are jokes

They’re all simple, but I’d say that the toughest of them is the General. The other of the 5 bosses before Ossirian are fairly simple, though you can get in trouble if you are missing certain elements (not having enough mana drain on Moam will ruin your day), but the General is an endurance fight, especially for healers and caster DPS. It is slightly easier for Warlocks, but it is easy to go OOM during the waves before the boss if you aren’t careful.

Yeah, but some of the best loot comes from Viscidus, Ouro, and C’Thun.
