Chance on hit question

looted a claw of something has +2 int and does some shadow damage on the “Chance on Hit” - does this only work for melee or does chance on hit also apply to casters - Thank you! <3

Am 99% sure that applies to melee only but I’ve been wrong before

Melee only.

It has to say something like “chance on landing a damaging spell” like Blade of Eternal Darkness for it to affect casters.

Chance on hit is always just going to be melee hits (and won’t affect Feral forms).

“Chance on hit” roughly translates to “Chance on strike with this weapon to apply effect”

That’s why chance on hit effects don’t apply to Feral forms, but “chance on melee hit” effects like Hand of Justice do.

Feral druids use hit chance still. However thier wep is a stat stick and the damage on the wep has 0 impact on feral forms.

Can fire weapon enchant proc for feral?

No, you don’t hit the mob with the weapon, you hit with your paw. Weapons are only stat sticks for feral.

I get that, but the HoJ trinket apparently from what I have been reading does proc, so this is why I asked.

Wep procs don’t work as a feral. The best wep enchant will be agi enchants to wep or arguably 3% attack speed to 2h maces. Attack speed helps alot hence the MCP from gnomer being bis for all of classic.

so is the +Haste glove, helm and legs also considered good? its 3% more attack speed.

I mean in theory yes, but I use agi since it’s proven to be good. It gives dodge and crit which are very strong for feral. The most attack speed I would ever consider is 3% on wep, the other enchants are kinda of a waste.

HoJ is chance on melee hit. The weapon procs, including chants, are chance on that weapon hit. You don’t proc your main hand with an offhand hit when dual weilding, either.

Understandable,

Unless it says spell casts; it’s only melee. Unless the caster wants to swing the weapon, a melee proc is useless.
