Champion’s Earthshaker

What is your opinion on this Shaman PvP set? I’m having a hard time figuring out what spec is this set for and is it worth getting?

Total stats
Strength 19
Agility 10
Stamina 110
Intellect 72
Armor 1,759
Spell power 64

Once you look at the set bonuses and equip stats of +healing and + crit chance, I’d say it’s a combination of all shaman specs. Least favored being Enhancement due to the overall lack of Str/Agil stats.

I’d probably think that it’s most geared for Elemental Shamans, and know that you’ll also be able to throw out a decent Lesser Healing Wave when needed and you should not forget the melee part of your tool kit (even though it’s not as prominent as it is for an Enhancement shaman).

As far as it being worthwhile to get? Honestly, IDK. I’m not sure how it compares to the current gear pieces for elemental/resto shamans. I would guess that BWL, AQ, and Naxx gear sets will be better as a whole, but certain pieces of the champion’s set or even the set as a whole might be better than current gear available.

It’s a solid elemental set. You can make it work for enh as well as long as the rest of your gear covers the gaps for melee stats. Overall it’s a great set and pretty easy to get

Thank you for the replies

Right now I’m geared only for Enhancement but I would like to have a Elemental set.

I had put together an Enhancement PvP gear list. I can’t remember how long it takes to get the rep for these pieces.

Defiler’s Chain Pauldrons -Shoulders
Defiler’s Chain Girdle -Belt
Defiler’s Chain Greaves -Boots
Windtalker’s Wristguards -Bracers
Outrider’s Chain Leggings -Legs
Crown of Tyranny -Helm
Legionnaire’s Mail Chestpiece -Chest
Blood Guard’s Mail Grips -Gloves
Don Julio’s Band -Ring
Painweaver Band -Ring
Mark of Fordring -Necklace
The Unstoppable Force -Weapon
Hand of Justice -Trinket
Blackhand’s Breadth -Trinket
Deathguard’s Cloak -Cloak

It’s definitely built for a more hybrid style but it will work well for enhance or ele. Maybe just swap the odd piece here or there. If you’re ele you my as well drop the pieces with no spell power. Lots of alternatives even without raiding.

The stamina alone on the blue set makes it very strong for PvP. Plus, we don’t have a lot of options for melee gear sets until AQ. Sure you have the random off pieces before then but outside of raiding this is a solid set for people.

Unless you love pvp resto, Pve resto set bonuses are strong.

I took your advice swapping out pieces and this is the Elemental set I came up with.

PVE- Green Lens of Nature’s Wrath 36 SP
PVE-Wildthorn Mail 34 SP
PVP- Legionnaire’s Mail Legguards 21 SP 1% Crit
PVP- Blood Guard’s Mail Vices 13 SP 1% Crit
PVP-Blood Guard’s Mail Walkers 14 SP
PVP- Champion’s Mail Pauldrons 15 SP 1% Crit
4 pieces: Improves your chance to get a critical strike with all Shock spells by 2%

PVE-Barrage Girdle 23 SP

PVP-Dryad’s Wrist Bindings Cloth 22 SP

PVP-Frostwolf Advisor’s Cloak 14 SP

PVE-Barbed Thorn Necklace 17 SP
PVE-Cyclopean Band 9 Sp
PVP-Advisor’s Ring 14 SP
PVE-Royal Seal of Eldre’Thalas 23 SP
PVE-Briarwood Reed 29 SP

PVP-The Immovable Object
PVP-Mindfang 30 SP +1 Crit

314 Spell Power

Just make sure your using the level 60 blue PvP set. They will probably skip the 58 version, although it’d be nice if they release both. Also have a feeling that the helm is replaced with the sky fury helm, epic shaman only quest. Green lens is a cheap alternative for 36 nature dmg, if you’re engineering. I’ll probably run the AV shield too, no damage but survivability is worth it imo. There’s also a 20 sp shield that comes out with the tier .5 sets.

I’m hoping to get the epic dungeon 4 set, belt bracer chest helm. Solid set bonus plus those pieces all have spell damage which is nice. Just a ways off of releasing though, start getting the full blue set for now if you can.

Thank you for the advice, hadn’t even noticed I was looking at the level 58 PvP gear

When you stop viewing shaman through specs and start seeing them as classes. It becomes easier.

Enhancement shaman in PVP gets a ton of benefit out of +damage and Int. You do want to have melee stats as well, but you can do really well with some ‘caster’ pieces in there.

I’m pretty sure you still want a shield for pvp isn’t there a good one in ZG?

The Immovable Object from the AV vendor has
2468 Armor
44 Block
+15 Stamina

There’s also Gizlock’s Hypertech Buckler from Mara
1835 Armor
32 Block
+10 Intellect
+5 Stamina
Equip: Restores 4 mana per 5 sec

Ya we’re definitely limited when it comes to shields. Couple more I’d consider are…

Draconian Aegis of the Legion
Item Level 63
Binds when picked up

Off Hand Shield

2153 Armor
40 Block
+7 Stamina
Durability 100 / 100

Requires Level 58
Equip: [Increases damage and healing done by magical spells and effects by up to 20.
Dropped by: Lord Valthalak

The only shield I can find with actual spell damage on it. Basically anything from raids is always plus healing. This is my top pick when it’s out. Should be epic imo.

Jagged Obsidian Shield
Item Level 70
Binds when equipped

Off Hand Shield

2645 Armor
48 Block
Durability 120 / 120

Requires Level 60
Equip: [Increases your chance to block attacks with a shield by 2%.]
Equip: [+5 All Resistances.]
Equip: [When struck by a harmful spell, the caster of that spell has a 5% chance to be silenced for 3 sec.

This has no spell power on it but 5% chance to silence can turn a fight in PvP. Although it’s boe, the cost is probably not worth it.

Main issue is… well neither exist in classic yet. If anybody knows of a better shield for ele let me know!

Zulian Defender is the shield I was thinking of and will be relatively easy for a shaman to get. What I remember about this from playing a shaman in Vanilla was rogues tearing me up when I tried to pvp with a staff. That’s when I started using a dagger and shield.

Most of Vanilla I played enhance and resto and it was only towards the end I did elemental. Current shaman players may have better info for you but I did like having a shield and would equip whatever the best one I could get my hands on.
