CHALLENGE-mog: What are some cool items you just can't build a transmog around?

I just decided to finish up getting the Waist of Time lastnight (did most of the work back before Shadowlands launched, with some friends at the time), and as happy as I was collecting it… I gotta say, I can’t really come up with anything that really matched it.

Similarly, I’m still trying to get the Black Dragonscale Backpack, but I also don’t really know what set I see it really matching (was hoping to come up with a Mail-armor transmog, for a future Dracthyr character).

So, those are two items I would offer up as a challenge to all my fellow transmog enthusiasts; what cool sets could you come up with to match either the “Waist of Time”, or the “Black Dragonscale Backpack”?

I’ll also throw in “Crystal-shot Longrifle” in there as well, since I can’t quite find anything that matches that, either.

Any other unique items you guys are having trouble building transmogs around?

The ‘cross hatch’ plate helms from mop, NOTHING matches their metal colors right, same with the ‘crested knight helm’ from…some expansion, yanno the one, with the big feather mowhawk that looks like it’d be right as rain on Don Quixote?

Yeah, there’s like one Rogue set then maybe the red Throne of Thunder Druid one.

Necromedes, the Death Resonator. It’s on the smaller side for a hammer. Also, the coloration differs from most purples. Often times it just falls flat unless you want to mog it with Judgement recolor from Outland Dungeons or LFR ToS DK.

Hmm, those First Satyr’s shoulders I feel like I see quite a lot of really cool transmogs for that. Necromedes, that’s another interesting one; going through some screens on Wowhead, it seems like one of the early Death Knight PvP sets from Cataclysm looks to be a decent enough match. But yeah, could be tough to get something juuuust right.

I’m still struggling to think about a good match for the Waist of Time, though. So much went into collecting that, but I’m really not sure which character to put it on. Not really sure what armor-type to even use.

I only have one cloth outfit that I can seem to use it with. lol But I haven’t spent the time to get it yet.

Use a number generator from 1 to however many you have of an xmog slot… then pick that item and mog around it.

I think I did an alright job with it:

This is what I did with those two:

(ignore the blue enchant on Taeshalach. The Armory is doing that. I hid enchants on my DK.)

Check Tomb of Sargeras Warrior LFR/Normal. They also have look alike pieces if you want to mog it on that DK.

I love making mogs around unique items and since many have been listed, i feel the need to share.

Okay, the blue one. If I had the red one, I’d put it on my druid though!
Armory doesn’t do it justice, I have the void enchant on her.

Probably the only Taeshalach mog I’ve liked. Not enough fire armor in this game.

@below aren’t they just full sets outside of slight alterations…? Like the Tae set is just the cata plate helm/shoulders and some firelands set…

Not exactly creative.
