Challenge Mode Season 1 Ending and Rewards

That’s just hilarious. This is more exclusive than high end retail mounts. Like how could you come up with 4min SH as being even remotely feasible especially since CM has a very hard meta game.

Also thanks for giving us 2 weeks of notice. That’s really nice of you

Just for context, this run with an out-of-bounds skip is 2 minutes and 25 seconds faster than the new “Title/Mount” timer.

All of the listed title times are comfortably clearable with zero out-of-bounds or bug abuse. Utilizing non-meta classes/specs are a different story, but that’s the nature of hyper-optimized small group content. See M+ spec participation for high keys.

Just to cut through the hyperbole a bit, these timers are not as extreme to reach as they’re being described in this/other threads, but they will present a significant challenge to most groups. Various guides to reach the title timers have been posted on Youtube and are easily accessible.

I agree with the general sentiment that the short notice period before the end of the season should have been handled better.

No bug abuse sure but I highly doubt you can clear SH in 4mins without full meta specs. There are like 4 groups in the US that have reached it and CM has been out for 4 months now. They all play meta specs. The best time is 4 dps 1 tank btw. In fact every single time below 5min is done by a brewmaster. Source: Warcraftlogs

The main issue is those times are very low for the amount given to beat them (we didn’t know about those rewards until now).

I agree with this sentiment. I think the times are achievable if you’re willing to go through with making the right comp and setting yourself up for success. I think the best solution would be to push the end of season date back to January in order to give people that time.

Lol another poor decision from the classic team, for arguably the best looking of the Celestial mounts. Weren’t these mounts stated to be obtained through the Celestial dungeons as they’re Celestial mounts? But let’s continue to fail the majority of your player base for the top 1-3% that have perfect comps, don’t bring a healer or abuse bugs/cheese strats to get very low times.

I mean aren’t the balance changes and all the other changes you’ve been attempting to do is to reduce the friction of class imbalance and player disparity? This just makes it so you’re likely needing a Brewmaster to get these times, as well as engineering, amongst other things and seemingly goes against your whole reason for changes throughout MoP thus far.

Agreed, I’m saying mostly the same thing. The general outline of a meta comp is required (usually a combination of Brewmaster/Warlock/Ele/Mage/Arms/Hunter/Disc, though other specs certainly make the rare appearance).

Outside of Blizzard actively rebalancing challenge modes, which seems unlikely, there will always be a strong meta at the top end. Same as arena, same as raiding, just a bit more confined due to speedrunning being the singular goal and only 5 slots in the party.

Warcraft Logs only has a limited view of overall runs, a lot of people don’t bother to upload them there.
Wowsimstats has a challenge mode leaderboard that I believe pulls directly from Blizzard’s API (a few realms are bugged atm and not updating, but most work fine).

Approximately 217 unique characters have cleared the Scarlet Halls timer, (not counting the however many on bugged realms like Arugal). I’d expect that figure to balloon after this announcement, as it’s already been increasing massively over the past week or so as awareness spread, (see how many runs just under the timer are from the last few days). It’s important to remember that most people would never bother trying to push these type of times without an incentive, which has now been provided/confirmed.

More time before the end of the season would probably be the easiest bandaid for Season 1, but I think the current challenge timers are reasonable.

Incredibly disappointing news.

There is no way in hell for me to do these times as a frost DK.

Please reconsider these timers to be accessible for all classes. I don’t agree with the challenge being about playing a FOTM meta class.

Another thing worth noting is they’ve made season-specific achievement points for platinum completion, when achievements are meant to be always obtainable otherwise they would be feats of strength.

Spectral Guise.. I wonder if that improves times..

Reading here.. but you stay in combat.. funny how that one works. It probably doesn’t impact times.. probably.

The times, the decision, but mostly the timing is just hilarious, and someone should be fired within Blizzard. Communicating timers three weeks before the season ends (that honestly are mostly non obtainable, so they could have left it like comunicatet before) and changing the reward is a ridiculous move.
Honestly, fire that dev who made the decision, and make the mount obtainable in some way FFA, or at that point just delete it from the game. You’re making so many people mad and/or quitting the game.

Wasted oportunity to bring those to retail…
