sorry too busy standing around in valdrakken and convincing myself that having this set makes me more important than everyone else lol
An act of charity (to me) is the last thing you need on your path to true enlightenment
When you remove literal parts of the outfit, not just a glow, it’s a remodel.
And not a recolor.
You’re the one who was proven wrong, so yes, you should have stopped.
Yes. It is. Because removing actual elements from the item is remodeling it, not recoloring it.
Removing entire portions is not “a few polygons” nor “a small tweak.”
I am not a boy and removing entire portions from the armor isn’t a recolor. See: druid set.
What is your problem? I’m literally in here agreeing with you that the Legion sets aren’t the recolors you were talking about and you’re jumping down my throat?
Not that lmao. we can happily agree on that
but im saying as a professional who literally 3d models, uv maps, and textures for a living every day, if your supervisor assigns you with the task of removing small asset pieces from an already completed and textured model, it will never be considered a “remodel”. It’d be considered an alteration. it takes minutes, if even that, to delete or alter the armour pieces.
remodelling is self-descriptive ma’am. if all you’re doing is deconstructing a finished product and not actually re-modelling anything, it isn’t that lol. my examples before are still what constitutes a remodel, or the race model updates in WoD. those are remodels too
these armour pieces aren’t one singular mesh that needs to be carefully recrafted or anything like that, they are often lots of smaller objects parented to the central piece. so deleting them has about as much complexity as plucking leaves from a branch
all they did was remove the sticks lol. all robed leg pieces are made with pant variants at the same time, so that in the event a chest piece or something forces it from one to another (the same way that certain helmets will chop your hair or beard off, etc), you aren’t left with a buggy empty texture predicament or naked legs

you can see here that the red/yellow druid challenge set recolour has been in the game since MoP like all the others. so just like with every other set, they just clicked and deleted the sticks away and in this case, changed the robe texture to pants
Yeah those new sets look horrendous, looks like I’ll keep wearing this mog into the next decade
hello fellow challenger. i think another thing a lot of people liked about the challenge sets was the class ability interaction. shame we havent gotten anything like that since
Why do people insist on having this dumb semantic debate about the exact meaning of the word “recolor” in every thread? It’s so pointless
The eternal struggle of always being right. I agree. I think that argument was silly and showed some people’s rears.
Whether it’s a recolor or a remodel is up to the beholder. I consider them recolors that are also downgrades.
The monk set from Class Hall is an ugly color and the best part about it was the kegs and whatnot on them.
i get forum-splained the semantics of my job on an almost daily basis here
the wow community has a lot of lingo for things (one being “skeletons”) that actual professionals just dont use or say. so its kinda tiresome to have to tell these people the correct
also a lot of dunning-kruger instances here with players who play a game a lot and suddenly think they know the ins and outs etc
i have zero problems with it but what never gets old is the pushback when you tell them factually correct information lol. its like as if im challenging their commitment to the game or something
anyways blizz give us the unused challenge mode set recolours!
Right, it’s like an argument where both sides are wrong lol
There’s only one wrong side and that is the side that argues that it is NOT a “remodel”. Miss professional/OP over here is arguing that changing the design (not simply the removal of parts) of these helm and shoulder pieces is not remodelling.
In my professional opinion, these sets are 6 to 7/8th recolours, depending on the class.
Anyway, pls add the original datamined recolours from back in MoP. tyvm Blizz
oh look, another forumsplainer that’s never set foot into a game dev office before telling me what’s what
what an oxymoron statement
please, continue telling me how the terminology that I’ve shared with my cohorts across several studios is incorrect lmfao
but feel free to have your own opinion on this matter in the same manner that some people believe the earth is flat i guess, you do you
I have never ever seen a post asking blizzard to make new Challenges. Can you guys start asking for them instead of remakes?
Site is slow to load my post history but I have absolutely asked for new mogs before. It’s one of main gripes I’m known for, whining that M+ for instance should be getting its own unique mogs. I’ve said they should make a mog for each class for M+ and then do 4 recolors of it and hand out one of those recolors every season.
tbh i wholly expected them to continue the challenge mode exclusive item trend every expansion after they did it for class sets in MoP and weapons in WoD/artifact weapons in Legion
then they just… stopped… as much as I want the recolours of the CM sets, I also wholly welcome new & special class-centric challenge content
For some unknown reason, modern Blizzard seems to think “collecting mogs” is a gameplay loop in itself, that people who raid or do M+ or PvP don’t care about getting unique transmogs. I don’t really understand it, but at the same time game director Ion Hazzikostas doesn’t mog his gear at all so I suppose if everyone in his inner circle are yes men its possible to see how we ended up where we are.
I don’t believe you know the first thing about 3d modelling and evidently even the meaning of ‘oxymoron’ is lost on you.
I suggest you find a more productive way of pumping your thread than to proclaim yourself an authority figure of a subject you clearly know little about.
Anyway pls give us CM recolors + new CMs+sets blizz ty
At bare minimum finish the new class sets. Their cute partially completed sets were funny when they were just thrown onto the trading post, but adding them into the game (recolored) as rewards for completing content and STILL leaving them incomplete is a joke.
Agreed. I don’t think partial sets count as full sets (obviously) and it’s weird calling them sets at all.
Just because Dracthyr are transmog-ally stunted doesn’t mean everyone needs to suffer.
what an adorable response lol. i’d link my artstation but i don’t exactly intend on doxxing myself here of all places. I quite literally am working on a game with an armour system almost identically to WoW’s rn actually
uh oh the armchair expert on the forums is upset that they’re wrong! how dare a career 3d modeller, animator, texture artist, uv mapper, and model rigger tell them any wiser!!!
wamp wamp
…anyways
