Chains of Domination: A New Path [He Was My Student] quest teleports you to Arathi Highlands

this works i only had the first option (Optimize network for speed) to uncheck so it might have some do with just that option

Thank you so much, this worked for me. I tried everything until I tried unchecking “Optimize network for speed”, this was the only option that was checked of the 3 for me

This worked!

The best way to do it. Worked like magic for me.

I had this exact problem and what solved it for me was to log off the game, log out of the launcher, wait for a bit before going back into the game.

This is STILL broken, Blizzard.

Amazing.

@Chenjinliu I could kiss you smack on the lips! Thank you!

Months later and “Optimize Network for Speed” is still the solution for this. Crazy. No disabling of addons, no reloading UI. Abandoning quest… no. This. Come on Blizz.

Just wanted to check in and say this quest is still borked. Unchecking ‘Optimize Network for Speed’ didn’t fix it for me, but doing that AND disabling addons did finally work. Phew.

Just wanted to confirm what Sandustman mentioned earlier.
Quest is still bugged, btw.

But yes like he mentioned, just simply

  1. Fly to SW.
  2. Go inside the cathedral where the quest marker is at then run towards library once inside
  3. This will zone you back to Bastion.
  4. Re enter memory and should be fine.

If it disconnects you again, just simply abandon quest and restart it. This time you won’t be dc’d when you enter his memory.

You are my hero. I tried EVERYTHING else, but this worked. Thank you!

this is the one, this is what works guys

Fly to Tirisfal Glades and change the phase with Zidormi.

Worked for me too, thanks mate. What a pain in the butt and shouldn’t be an issue after all this time.

2024, nothing better to do than play Shadows (never played it). This actually worked like a charm!!!

It still happening to me, switching the Shadowlands timeline.

I just had the same issue so when it disconnected me I logged back and in and abandoned the quest while I was falling, it took me back to Bastian. I waited until I was out of PVP, re-accepted the quest, and it worked fine without a hitch.

I had the same problem on two different characters. Did it on my Warlock, went through the whole thing - teleport, disco, relog only to find myself high in the air over Arathi. Like “out of bounds” high. Died a couple times on my lock, logged a ticket and finally got them to mark the quest complete. They also told me a “fix” for this was expected in 10.2.7.

When 10.2.7 went live I decided to retry it on my druid, since no worry about falling to his death. Same thing happened.

On May 16, 2024…still confirmed bugged. Followed the info above (Also copied below) and it worked fine as a work around.

Found a workaround.

When I was transported to arathi Highlands, I abaondoned the quest, which teleports you back to Bastion.

Before I accepted the quest again, I did the following

Game Menu (question mark or escape key) >> Options >> System (at the bottom) >> Network

In the Network menu, there are three options.

Optimize network for speed
Enable IPV6 when available
Advanced Combat logging

uncheck them all

Close out of Options menu and back into the game. [Click X on the top right, or close window]

Accept the quest, “He was my student”

Click on the giant mirror to be transported to the instance.

Good Luck.

Okay. I tried ALL of these. Nothing worked. Instead, I went to Zoridormi, changed the timeline, flew to Stormwind, disengaged into the room he was in, exited vehicle, reentered. It worked.
