Hey folks, I was Niknak the gnome warlock on Cenarius. I was a member of <Dreams of Ysera> and then of <Watchers> up to my last day playing. My bnet tag is Corax#1497.
Aug 23 Update: I just resubbed and logged in. It was quite the mix of familiar & strange to look over all my old gear & items, and what used to be a considered a large pet & mount collection back in the day.
I played a lot of characters the first year. Started one of the very first guilds on the server: “The Alliance of Azeroth” (not very creative, I know). The guild didn’t last long as I ended up focusing more on leveling alts than on end game content. Elerius was my first character that I leveled, and was the GM of that guild.
I later leveled a Dwarf Priest named “Gretzl” to raid with a guild called “Ancients of Azeroth”. They were struggling with the Magmadar fear mechanic, hence the dwarf priest.
I remember running into “Thott” somewhere in Duskwood one time, and he claimed to be the Thott behind the thottbot website when I asked him.
I also remember playing with a character named “Neko” (I think they had to change their name to something else though) that ended up working as a level designer for Blizzard. I wonder if they’re still there?
I also remember running into another person that I had been in a Quake2 clan prior to WoW. I think his WoW name was Emagon (NoGame backwards). Seemed really unlikely that we would have run into each other randomly in a different game, but maybe that’s just a testament to how small the gaming community was back then compared to now.
Transferred off Cenarius at the start of BC when they offered free transfers due to overcrowding. Transferred back years later to play with other friends I’d left behind.
I think I remember “Heist”. I think my friend “Sikara” raided with that guild for a while.
I was trying to remember some of the guilds I was in the early days. Helpful site is warcraftrealms - checkout community -> character history.
You can look up your character and see your guild history.
I was in Phoenix Assassins, Thornguard, and Eternal Ascendants for shorter periods of time but I do fondly remember Omerta and our fun runs of Dire Maul over and over, and our first guild takedown of Onyxia.
I was Bromms, night elf rogue. Don’t remember too many people aside from RL friends. I was in Dreams of Ysera, and then Disavowed. Dommage, SD, Holydwarf, Homma…been too long!
Hakana, Dwarf Hunter from '05 on. I do not remember my guilds whatsoever but Gilgamesh, I owe you 35g for a Burning War Axe. I’m sure I owe Noctre something too.
Sinaffey, Night Elf Hunter, from about 5 months after the game opened? Realm Cenarius, Guild was < Thorngard >. Looking for anyone from the old guild! Miss you guys! Still on Cenarius in our family guild < Maleficent >.
@Teresa - Our small guild, Stomp, has done some raids with The Usual Suspect - I was away during that phase but our guildies are all praises of the TUS - you guys are awesome.
I was Syn on Cenarius. I still am, but I used to be, too. I was a hunter back then, and later a warlock named Rewrite. I don’t recall all my guilds, but I mostly raided with Legacy Reborn in vanilla. I remember quite a few names (and guild names) in here from seeing you all around in-game and possibly on the ancient realm forum.
Yes! I used to see him hanging out in IF. Still have an old screenshot somewhere like some sort of paparazzi.
Judes human warrior I was a member of the guilds The Marine Corps, The Sovereign Alliance, Eternal Wings, The Usual Suspects back when Cortana was GM and Wipe. Horde side troll mage Omamboka I was a member of Freebooters.
When the game launched on the live servers I was a Night Elft Hunter on Cenarius named Moya and I was a member of <BSC> if any of my old <BSC>ers are coming back to play classic, let me know. I switched to my warlock, Khastera <BSC>, when we needed more banishes for Garr in Molten Core.
Seeing if any of the people I used to play with are coming back for classic. Darthar was my rogue. Warlock was Dorjan. Also had a priest named Inanna. Had a few Guilds that eventually merged to become Manetheren. Played through BC and stopped right around the begining of WotLK.
As the toon shows. Meera warlock. original guild was Encore but i organized a lot of strath, scholo and UBRS runs even after MC and BWL gear. Loved the old cenarius community. I’m hoping a classic community will be as cool.
