I have read so much on this topic but I still dont really know how it works.
you start with 3 pets and you have to kill four NPC fleets? with no heals?
please advise.
You can change to other pets, you just can’t heal the ones you’ve used. This is where addons like Rematch come in handy. You can save teams to specific NPCs and load them up when you face those NPCs in the dungeons.

so you dont exit the instance. just change pets and go on. is that right?
No, because that will just reset the dungeon.

It’s just like the other instance pet dungeons. You go in, do a ton of a battles without healing. If you need to heal you leave and restart.
I did this way back when it first came out. I used an older addon that is no longer available (Pet Battle teams) to set up teams for each of the Battle Master teams I had to defeat. You can’t heal your pets when you’re in the dungeon so sometimes it required me to have duplicates of some pets that were needed back then. Now with so many newer pets, that may not be required. I spent a lot of time figuring out which pets I needed in which teams, leveling them, and making sure everything was set up before going in. It still took some trial and error way back then.
But, with addons like Rematch and websites like Xu-Fu’s Pet Battles / Guide where there are some really skilled and knowledgeable pet battlers that have already set up teams that you can export from the site and import the teams right into Rematch, it makes it so much easier. They even have a section under the Dungeons tab for The Celestial Tournament with recommended teams and strategies.
If you have every team for every battle set up before going in, it shouldn’t be hard. It’s the set up that is time consuming.

There are tricks that you used to be able to do if you dont have a large stable.
Yes you cant heal in the instance but you used to be able to log off, log on an alt, heal, then log back on your character in the same spot you were before. I havent tested it recently but i havent seen anywhere that it was patched out.

I did too, it should be easier now with all of the new pets and their combinations. There was some RNG, like hoping for a crit that was thrilling and dreadful.
And, I do want to say that it is worth it. Those pet rewards are true status pets and look great.

I know that is true for the other dungeons, but I don’t know about the Celestial Tournament. I’m not even sure battle pets were account bound back when it first came out.
