Celebrate 15 Years of World of Warcraft With New Alabaster Mounts!

No potatoes left all were made into fries!

Actually as you get older and you stop giving a crap about your age, you really just go ahead and call yourself your age that year before your birthday just so you can get used to it.

When I turned twenty eight I gave up and started thinking of myself as thirty just to get it over with. I’ll probably do the same thing for forty.

The only time it matters anymore is just for legal purposes.

Pass.

We can buy things from the store any day.
How is this special?

Good lord, all of this hate and vitriol over absolutely nothing.

This is a disgusting overreaction. People mourn for the days of old Blizzard, I mourn for the day people weren’t unnecessarily rude and obnoxious because something was added to the game that doesn’t affect them. I mourn for the loss of common decency, or just manners.

Is Blizzard money grabbing now? I suppose you could argue it. But it’s no different than when they were making money off of people buying TCG card packs in the hope of getting those sweet rare mount drops. Which have been around since Classic, night I remind you. External mounts have been in the game since the beginning, so this is nothing new.

And you know what? These mounts are literally no different than the CE mounts we’ve been getting for the last however many expansions. If they were made exclusive to the CEs, you people would be cursing Blizzard out just as much as you are now, or worse because of “exclusivity.”

The actual anniversary celebration is adding three new mounts to the game, all of which look incredible (updates ram mount, hell yes??) and they come 100% free; you just have to play the game.

The alabaster mounts are for the Collector’s Edition that is being released in celebration of Classic servers going live, and they’re letting you get them rather than spend $100 on an item that’s difficult to get because it keeps getting sold out in mere seconds of being offered. Honestly, I’m glad they’re on the store so people who don’t want or can’t get the CE still have the option to have these neat mounts. And if you hate how they look, that’s fine! Don’t buy them!

Honestly, it’s no wonder no one from Blizzard communicates anymore. With people like the person I quoted, this community is as horrible as their perceived insult that Blizzard has directed at them. So much hate for absolutely no reason, it sickens me.

You argue that getting cards is close to buying shop mounts? They’re litteraly printing money with shop mounts. They didn’t make much money out of the card game I can assure you that, else they would be still making those.

Not relevant anymore*edited out

And comparing shop mounts to CE is just disgusting, you want this game to turn into pay2win? That’s what you want?

Also the reason they don’t communicate anymore is they fired the guys that did. Because obviously that was their answer to poor communication.

I can accept shop mounts existence and I understand Blizzard can put them out as they want. But don’t try talking about them like it’s a good thing.

It is. I spent over $100 trying to get the spectral tiger. I remember 13 year old me taking my allowance and going to the store to buy card packs that always ended up in the garbage because they weren’t the spectral tiger. Now, if I want the blue fox, I drop $15 on it and bam, it’s mine. I’ll take that over the TCG any day.

But I’m not comparing them. The two mounts added are LITERALLY the CE mounts. I agree with arguments regarding the mounts that are just placed in the shop, I would prefer them be obtainable in game. But the alabaster mounts are literally the CE mounts and being offered in the store for people who can’t or don’t want to drop $100 all at once for a bunch of physical items, too. This game isn’t in any danger to becoming pay to win, the shop has been in the game for nearly as long as it’s existed now since sparkle pony came in Wrath. There’s nothing to pay to win.

The mass layoffs were pretty dirty, but they still have CMs. But the disgusting way the community treats them explains why they’re absent. It’s like how folks will berate and abuse retail workers. I’ve worked retail, I’ve worked for a small while as a forum manager, being treated like the way this community treats Blizzard employees takes a heavy psychological toll when you’re literally just a messenger.

It’s either these two mounts are put on the shop or are locked behind a $100, exclusive edition paywall. It’s a good thing they’re in the shop.

I’m speaking strictly these two shops. The rest of the mounts, though I do think should be obtainable in the game, I don’t have strong feelings for one way or the other. I’m only talking about the alabaster mounts, and why it’s good that they specifically are on the shop.

I thought that was cutting edge sorry about that. My confusion.

As for cards, getting physical products to get a mount is way less “greedy”. You get something physical. Yes they cost at the end more, but those cards still have value today, while you can’t re-sell the shop mount.

All good! No worries there.

I can concede your point about cards still being physical objects that you receive, but there’s still the point of external mounts have always existed. And I’m far more partial to being able to spend a flat amount for them rather than spending money on a poorly thought out card game (pre-Hearthstone) for a tiny chance at it.

Honestly it’s just less RNG, which considering WoW’s current state, I need less RNG in my life.

lol They did not have a store. The TCG was a card game and not sold on a blizzard store. They were bought off the TCG website or from card stores. The mounts were super rare to get as well as many other things. The cards were generally cheap. That is not how wow survived. Wow survived because of the 10 Million plus subscribers back then. The card games were chump change.
You say you do not not have to pay for every wow expansion. Since when? Every single expansion you paid for if you started from scratch or wanted to play when it was released. Yes you get the other expansions included NOW when buying but the point is that unless you are a relative new person, you paid for each one and still will for years to come. I wish it was the case that i got every expansion since buying the base game for free.

its not the same model. it is the same animation though, cause it uses the same skeleton. and no its not bleached white, they have all sorts of differences.

and where do you think that money went from the card sales? blizzard.

also the card games were chump change? no wonder the mounts cost upwards of a hundred bucks or so…

the cards phsyically were bassicly worth nothing, as the cards that dont have mounts/pets/etc set to them cost little to nothing, as you could get versions of the card without a scratch part on it.

Ok that’s not funny…

It is the same model, point me out if I am wronged guys,

i have just the mount for you
its called hogrus
litterally a flying baked potato

Alright so you are saying this is the same model as the current- updated gryphon model right? well lets compare the two, sadly i cant link them so i will have to describe.

The alabaster gryhon beak is smooth, look at the new updated gryphon model and notice its peak has a spike ontop. Also the current gryphons have no chestplate like the alabaster, wings are different, tail is different, legs are different, the feathers around the head are entirely different, the texture is different. the only thing the same is that its a grpyhon.
