Getting top .5% among the best players is somehow less competitive than getting top .5% among the general player pool?

This only applies if the best players still queue 3s, most of them queue Shuffle.
Top 100 for Shuffle is similar to Top 100 for 3s, but you get more competition, new names and new blood in the scene.
3s is just the exact same people, every single season, circlejerking over a mount that no one cares about anymore.
Shuffle is the new bar for skill, if you don’t have Shuffle rating then your XP or CR in other brackets don’t matter.
Everyone knows its dead rn but everyone thats ever been 2400 in 3s (unlike you) knows that the current 3s players are 5x better than the shuffle players at the same rating.

A couple Sharpen Blades, AoE bleed here and there and you’ll get it. You get a gem at 2400 that makes all the set pieces glow more.
