I’m watching the MDI and Sours just said a recent change made CC block bolstering? Is that true? Can you sheep/paralysis/sap a mob and kill things near it and the CCd one doesn’t get bolstered? When did this change come in?
I know if we CC’d a mob and killed it’s pack far enough way they wouldn’t bolster. But if they were 10 or so yards away they would still Bolster.
unless they are hotfixing it, currently triggering bolstering is a 30 yard range (I think) and CC’d mobs still get it
Bolstering does not apply to mobs that are out of combat. Sappped and Imprisoned mobs do not proximity aggro, so if you don’t damage or apply a debuff to them, they won’t get in combat. Bolstering from red mobs dying doesn’t apply to yellow mobs and vice versa. And has been said already, Bolstering does not apply to mobs more than 30 yards away.
Yep - Sap, Imprison and Repentance are special - they don’t put the mob into combat, as long as you apply the CC before the pull. Other types of CC (sheep, hex, etc.) keep the mob in combat so you need to pull 30+ yards away before killing his buddies.
(For the same reason, you can use Sap etc. to skip past a mob, but you can’t use Hex etc. because the mob will aggro as soon as CC wears off and probably pull a big train of doom to your poor party)
It’s dumb and confusing, but that’s how it is.
Banish is another special case; banished mobs are immune to all interactions including bolstering. I don’t mind Banish being a bit different though, that seems fairly intuitive to me.
