Caverns of Time - Collapsing Timeway

I am curious.

While in the Caverns of time, if you do the quest that takes you around the caverns and the custodian explains stuff to you, you eventually end up at the pirate ship that use to have a portal behind it, and the custodian says…

“This time way is currently collapsing, What that may hold for the past, present and future is currently unknown…”

I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that we are about to go into Tazavesh, and enter a gate way that has us fight a Infinite Dragon Pirate.

If so, that is a story that has been in the making since TBC.

hes the dragon that is going to bring garrosh back to 30 years ago and we are going to get WOD reboot next expansion

While in TBC it’s possible to find infinites talking about the “clockwork universe”, that might’ve been a different plotline, closer to Chronimatic Anomaly in Nighthold.

Since the current team is not quite the same people, I’d say the current story started shaping up like halfway through BfA, with maybe some broad strokes during Legion, and some - not before this year.

It was most likely flavor dialog, but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t have lore repercussions.

Maybe it’s a event in which the Infinite Dragonflights won and now that even is time-locked.

I want this. Seriously. Resurrect the Ray D. Tear!

Screw it. Time travel huckstery expansion. Every raiding tier is a new period in WoW history. Troll wars, Al-Aqir wars, War of the Three Hammers, Second War, First War, everything’s on the table.

I wouldn’t put too much thought into it. I mean the same quest has the custodian say that the infinite dragonflight is messing with the Battle for Mount Hyjal and have blocked the passageway (which is why we needed the vials that Kael’thas and Vashj got from Illidan). Yet when you enter the raid, no infinite dragons to be seen. Metzen would later way the raid was basically a “rule of cool” thing.

The raid has Archimonde teleport from the base of the mountain to the summit right after you defeat Azgolar, thereby making the previous trash and 4 bosses pointless. They could’ve explained that by having the infinite dragonflight attack the NE base after we talk to Tyrande, enabling Archimonde to bypass the NE base. Thereby arriving at the world tree too early. Which he does in the raid but with no explanation on the live version.

The main infinite dragonflight story finished in Cata with End Time.

I always thought they should have done an Infinite dragon boss instead of making up a Doom Lord to insert into the established trio of Winterchill, Anetheron, and Azgalor.

Agreed. Like have Winterchill be the only boss for the human base. Have Anetheron and Azgalor for the orc base. Then have an infinite dragon boss and Archimonde for the NE base. It is comical that Archimonde just skips the NE base in the raid version with no explanation given. The doom lord doesn’t even show up in the WC3 reforged version of the battle. Yet he canonically exists because he shows up in HFC as part of the trash before Archimonde alongside Anetheron and Azgalor.
