Cause vs Because

I cringe every time I read someone using “cause” in place of “because”.

You know who you are. Stop being lazy.

Cuz it’s just easier IMO

I wonder what’s the cause of it. Like the root cause. 'Cause cause seems ok if you put the postrophe before it. Then it’s ok, right?

This one bothers me too.

They are literally saying the opposite of what they actually mean.

What about bc, short but gives off the because vibes.

The one that bothers me the most is “could of” / “should of” / “would of”… I guess people don’t pronounce it properly in the first place, so then they type it like it sounds. To me, it sounds like they never paid attention in school.

yes i hate that one too. “seen” is another one, people use that instead of “saw”. like “i seen that movie last week that we talked about”

You know what’s even worse? When people post diary entries on GD that have nothing to do with the game, instead of posting it in off topic or on their Facebook.

“cuz” is better anyway.

And we care cause…?

At some point someone will say language is “fluid”, English is just “evolving”, and it’s “not ok” to criticize someone’s grammar.

The OP did not like the use of “cause” cause it annoyed his cause of correcting grammar. This is cause grammar is important to him and his cause.

I hate ‘coz’ for cousin… why does this exist?
And how the hell does Margaret shorten to Peggy?
Same with William to Bill.

And why when we make a word ending in an F plural do we substitute in a V? Knife to Knives, Life to Lives. It makes no sense!

And we need a single set of pluralization rules as well. Deer should become deers, not just stay deer. Same thing with sheep and sheeps.

Also Cough and Dough should rhyme. ‘Ugh’ should never sound like ‘f’ and I don’t understand why it does. Dough is even weirder, with ugh sounding like ‘w’.

Also why do you ‘have sex’ that shouldn’t be possessive. I wouldn’t say I’m going to have television because my show is starting or that I’m going to have type because I need to write something. I didn’t have movies with my GF when we went to see Wakanda Forever.

Also affect and effect. They mean different things, but most people don’t know that. The last time people mistook word meaning was ‘literally’ which is now accepted to mean both literally and the opposite of literally. Draw a line in the sand and educate yourself on affect and effect now before it’s too late!

That sounds like a you problem.

‘Cause Ya’ll Know It’s True!
