tried getting the zipao tiger pet today doing the twitch + amazon + bnet linking. first 2 parts went fine. last part? impossible cause i cannot log into battlenet since the battle.net app was upgraded to include the authenticator. the problem is when u try to log in using the battle.net app it asks for an authentication code OR to verify it using an approval tap. well this requires the old app. the old app though is now covered in giant all caps warnings like DO NOT INSTALL THIS APP and if you use this you will be unable to log in once the app expires, proceed? the next step is sms. well that’s great cause the last time i logged into my battle.net account the phone number was different cause it was my home phone number instead of my cell phone cause i was a bit late making that change. so am i stuck at the customer support stage now? if so guess ill bite the bullet so to speak and do it the next time im bored enough, but this roll out seems to have been a complete disaster as far as i can tell. at least i can play wow still. it hasnt cut me off there, but with how big a disaster this is im starting to worry thatll come next when the app expires.
Do you not have the old authenticator on the phone still?
i deleted it cause they literally told me to when i downloaded the battle.net app update. i could redownload it but it starts giving u big all caps warning to and i quote “DO NOT INSTALL THIS APPLICATION” and “doing so with result in the inability to log in once the app xpires, proceed?” so they’re kinda screaming at me to not do that cause itll have consequences
I would see if you can redownload it and then have things work.
The warning is not to download it if you never had - but you do need it to make the migration.
When you installed and linked the old authenticator app, it should have saved a screenshot of the recovery stuff to your phone. It’s likely still there somewhere if you look around in your gallery by folder. On my Android phone, it created a folder called “Pictures” and saved the screenshot there.
trying this and cant do it. the reaction times needed are outside human capability so im clearly having some issue that isnt normal. anytime i pop out of one of the 2 it logs me out or resets the warnings and i have to go through a bunch of options b4 i can get a code. if i try to copy the code it wont copy and it wants me to manually enter it. how in the hell do you do this in the 10 second or so window it gives you. it stops me every time. the autnenticator and battle.net app are completely incompatible. it says they cant sync so i have to do it manually and when i try to do it manually it logs me out of the other one so i dont have time to enter the code fast enough. id need to be a world text record holder and have a photographic memory to do it.
ur kiddng me… i actually pulled it off… and then it just rejected the code. who made these apps cause they are 100% NOT COMPATIBLE
so i tried to remove my authenticator cause it says u might need to do that. guess what u need to do that though? an authenticator code! so i went to customer support which looped me around til i gave up cause it doesnt have a feature to submit a ticket anymore. if ur problem cant be solved with the info on the screen thats game over
Make sure you resync the authentication apps. The time window peried can get out of sync over time, so you might need to manually trigger a resync.
i recync’d in the authenticator app, the old one, over and over it didnt do anything. the battle.net app still wouldnt recognize the code and the authenticator still wouldnt receive the request
well it just got so much worse! i tried removing my authenticator. i can’t do that either! in game with customer support i can verify its me, but when i go to do it it says plz close all games first. well i can’t cause its in game. tried coming to the website to do it, guess what i need to log in to my wow account on the site? that’s right, an authenticator code.
itd sure be nice if there was a way to contact customer support, cause this seems like a 100% unfixable situation without it.
FINALLY managed to remove the authenticator via the site without needing the code and was able to then reinstall it and it works.
