Have you ever been catfished in WoW or any other online community? Have you ever been the one to catfish?
I’ve never catfished unless minimal rp on the forums/in-game counts. I’ve never exactly been catfished, but I’ve had people hide some very serious things about themselves from me.

Never been catfished… Or maybe I have and never picked up on it. I don’t pick up on social queues in real life. If my partner hadn’t aggressively beat the fact that they were interested into my head, I would have been single the last 22 years. I think it would be impossible for me to recognize it in purple text whispers.
I have been catfished, but not in the way you think.
I was on a Discord server years ago and a male user posed as a female online, even posting… pictures of ‘herself’ that weren’t tracible, as he used pictures of his ex.
Me, being whatever age I was at the time, became jealous that this ‘female’ was getting more attention than me.
Years later, I found out who the guy was and we became best friends.
People aren’t going to admit to this seriously unless they get off from being publicly humiliated.
One only has to take a look at Twitch and take the top 10 female streamers and see the amount of cash they rake in and from who and you’ll see the type of people who are perfectly capable of being catfished.
way back in vanilla days before voice comms were super common (for me at least) I was in a guild that everyone thought I was a guy and I didn’t correct them.

My older brother told me a similar story. He met a dude that posed as a girl and when my brother called him out the dude offered to teach how to catfish and get simps 
Your WoW account is mostly anonymous unless you’ve explicitly said who you are irl 
I don’t think that’s exactly catfishing. Just a symptom of being a girl online.
Everyone’s sexuality is different 
When I was 15-16ish (during wrath) I made a nelf (first alliance ever) DK and joined some group in Nagrand while leveling. This kid was referring to the rest of the group as “ladies” and such and I played along thinking nothing of it. He added me to his friends list and would message me everyday asking me about my day, how I’m doing etc. He’d send me gold, gifts etc though I never asked for it. It went for months until I deleted that character
