Catch up gear

Catch up gear…2 months in…lawl

At 50 you can buy a few pieces of ilvl 100 crafted gear (look for like desolate leather as the key word) and some ilvl 87 of the rest. Like 2 pieces of ilvl 100 desolate leather gear, the rest is ilvl 87 to be usable at lvl 50 (otherwise you have to be like 51 or 52 or 53, etc to equip).

Likewise, I believe there are ilvl 100 rings and a trinket you can buy at lvl 50 also. And there’s weapons too at ilvl 100. I usually deck each alt out in that crafted gear upon dinging 50 before leveling further.

No it wasn’t. In previous expansions we had heirlooms, which were increased in level and gave extra experience. Almost everyone used heirlooms in Legion, for example, until gear started dropping, and we started working on our Artifact which was a long, slow process of grinding. In BfA we got Azerite gear but it came in dribs and drabs and often you couldn’t even access some of the Azerite traits because they required a higher character level. I think perhaps you are misremembering.

So your saying in wod I couldnt go craft a steel forge axe rank six and send it to my level 91 warrior and decimate people?

scaling makes most classes perform fine - i lvled a bm hunter and i was ilvl 60 at lvl 51 and i was doing fine in dungeons.

my main was ilvl 102 at lvl 50 when i stared SL - and doing world quests and stuff - i couldn’t tell a difference between it and the bm hunter who had severely lower gear. i think the scaling makes all about the same in that lvl range.

The facts are these - levelling characters will do fine. Complaining because you don’t have higher level gear is pointless - you will get it as you level. Just do the questing, the dungeons, the crafting, buy what you can to fill gaps and work towards improving your character through play.

I’m complaining that every other expansion had high ilvl catch up gear for leveling up fresh characters and this one doesnt.

More so about twinking than actually leveling

Don’t fret about the leveling gear. If you are behind just try and get help from someone nearby or a guild member to help progress.

The real concern should be once you get level cap. Around then you can have 168s if you have gold to put on a just dinged 60 to hope to get them started in something. After that depends upon how much gold you have; your free time to play; drive; and social network (friends willing to give non-upgrades to you from raid/m+.

I certainly get you are complaining; it is not a complaint anyone I play with has made. They may (and do) complain about the quantity of gear that drops at cap from instance play but nobody has really got angsty about stuff for their low level toons. I’ve not had any real issues on toons wearing very average gear.

And if its about twinking then that’s outside my scope. I don’t even know how battlegrounds works now for level ranges and such.

The leveling process is so short that it doesn’t matter. The high ilvl pieces for catchup are world and raid BoEs.

The 50 to 60 leveling process is about as fast as all the other expansions

Tbh it’s probably because they seen how twinking went last expansion with level boosting and just said no this time.

So 6-12 hours depending how you take it?

And how many hours as level cap do you spend? Yes it sucks not having great gear to start off but the play duration is so short that in the long run it means nothing. The concern should be what you do when you reach level cap.

Eventually I’ll have every class at level 60 and even some on the other faction so it might only be 12 hours if you speed through but I’d rather do 40 hours of pvp then 12 hours of questing so 10 more characters at 40 hours is gonna be a lot of leveling

The covenant campaign gear is fairly good catch up and goes to 194 without needing any group content. From a fresh 60 in ~148 ilvl compare to a current 200ilvl (what I consider the “standard for any active player”)… thats probably one of the biggest ilvl jumps I have seen in 1 tier (considering the squish).

I think heirlooms should be upgradable to 60 by now… especially considering how trash threads of fate leveling is (they really need to buff the XP from dungeons if you are threads of fate).

They do not. When you do ToF your bonus objectives and quests will give you a set of questing gear or random items just as you would obtain from WQs.

Got it. Thanks for the insight.

I just want to be able to farm a set of gear on my 60 send it to my level 50 and dominate people in random bgs until I’m level 60…

I could do it in every expansion since cataclysm.

There are people that level sync in BGs. Or you’ll encounter the 130s (old mythic/elite bfa gear) while you are leveling.

I think this is why they always had the op gear you could get right after the previous max level so new players could get something to have a chance against mythic raiders and level scaled 60s

People not needing anima for catchup gear: dude anima is so rare for cosmetics, I can’t get enough!

Same people offering advice to people that are below 197 in slots: dude just get the covenant gear its real quick. You can be 197 in a week.

Yes the renown is easy and getting to 22+ is no issue but the anima is still the limiting factor.
