In order to complete the quest, the player has to die. Problem is those slimes hit really lightly at level 50. Even when I stripped naked and stayed there, I never died. Self healing is making this very hard.
I tried suicide twice, and I actually died to the mob once. However the quest did not end. According to comment at Wowhead, I am supposed to die defending to end the quest. However when I check for comment posted in the past couple weeks (set drop down menu to 9.0.1), there’s several people reporting this not working.

EDIT: can’t complete the Loremaster achievement since I can’t complete all of Twilight Highland zone due to this one broken quest

I died 3 times and didn’t get quest credit. According to wowhead (sort for comment 9.0.1) the quest is bugged, no one got credited either.
Same issues. I’ve gone in naked, died multiple times and cannot get it to progress for loremaster. Submitted a ticket and they said oh I can’t help you yet multiple people have posted they moved them to the next quest in quest line. So annoying

Still happening today on my level 51 druid. FYI an easy way to die is to jump off ramp on the edge of the maw and take falling damage…multiple times. Some have claimed on Wowhead that the Shadowlands prepatch broke it, like it broke another quest in the Kultiras story chain. Suggestions on that quest included completing the intro questline to Shadowlands, which I have not yet tried on this toon but will eventually.
