I’m trying to make some gold in this game, is it worth fishing? Would that be useful?
If you ask this question, people who make a lot of gold will never tell you their secret. Anyone who does, will make it become popular and destroy the value of the farm.
I would advice doing research to figure out a farm yourself.

How do you make gold? I’m questing right now but besides that don’t really know a way. Trying to level my engineering so need to buy a lot of materials from the auction house.
You’re going to have to test and see what sells.
My biggest sellers are green gear (Transmog items) and certain Leather.
Sometimes I just throw things at the wall and see what sticks.
It is, farm the fish from the fish feast recipe since the feast in cata is BOP and can’t be sold, so anyone making them for guild raid prog is either farming the fish or buying them.
The lone fisher in my guild claims to have made 10k a day during the darkmoon faire
Of course he also single-handedly finished our fishing guild achievement so I have no clue how much fishing that actually involved, but…

The fish feast achievement is catching 10,000 fish from POOLS.

By the way, what is the dark moon faire? I’ve heard about it a lot, is it still open?
I can only afford to play an hour or two on weekend days. So I’m not sure how feasible this is for me
He’s not, he just really enjoys fishing
You have to find a market niche and try to fill it. Some proffs are suited to that some aren’t.
Raiders tend to be you biggest market. They eat up consumables like flasks, potions, enchants and gems.
Early on in a raid tier crafted gear can make some decent gold but isn’t as steady or reliable.
Once upon a time mining and herbing could make a decent income but bots have ruined that mostly.
Dailies are a steady way to support yourself if you can’t make any of these work. You won’t get rich but should be able to do most things you want with a bit of time.
Tol Barad are currently the most lucrative dailies I believe.

I get sticking up for him but you don’t actually know and 10,000 fish is going to take days of fishing.

Fishing eels in TB and making agi food seems to make a decent amount.

Knowing what I know about him, and personally seeing how much he’s at the docks while I’m on other business, I have no reason to believe he bots

Not literally all 10,000 of them, but definitely the vast majority
Level with dungeons and then do the quests at 85 for gold, and also do dailies especially in Tol Barad. Regular non-daily quests give 50 gold or more at max level and they take less time in Cata than previous expansions.
What’s your other primary profession besides engi? Engi is one of the most expensive to level and none of the products sell well. I just did it until I got synapse springs, but not going all the way to 525 for goggles.
