Since the latest hotfix the Pterrordax Hatchling and The Innkeeper’s Daugheter archaeology artifacts appear to be unavailable.

Several of the dwarf common artifacts such as Sceptre of Bronzebeard, Warmaul of Burningeye, Silver Kris of Korl and Spiked Gauntlets of Anvilrage are also not obtainable meaning that the respective achievements associated with them are also not able to be completed currently.
It looks like the issue in relation to these rares and common artifacts not working seems to be implemented once the changes were made to remove Cataclysm specific zones to be chosen for digsites. There have been players who obtained these artifacts before that change was made.

Our theory in guild is that some items require a higher skill than 450. Its that or its bugged.
