On both of these quests I was unable to loot the quest items that start these quests. I was playing a level 85 rogue at the time. I also encountered another person with the same problem. He was a level 85 priest.

This was a bug back in the day as well. Never was ever fixed. 1/3 toons only was ever able to complete.
