Amazingly the above post with this
/console cvar_default
has worked for me . I tried it and all my characters dont get the error any longer. Wow I am much appreciative for the fix . Thank you
When I try ‘/console cvar_default’ it tells me ‘you do not have permission to perform that function’
So still no fix for me
(also didn’t work for someone else who tried that fix, and they didn’t get the error message I got when I tried)
The cvar_default
fix isn’t a fix. I would not recommend anyone do it.
I disabled all of my addons and then ran that command. While it did hide the error messages, that was only because the scriptErrors
cvar was reset to not show errors. As soon as I re-enabled script errors (which I want to see so I know when my addons are misbehaving), the default UI continued to generate errors whenever I placed my mouse over any stack in the auction house.
And now I need to go restore all my settings…
Same thing also happening to me. Its been doing it since the launch of Cata classic. I would have expected Blizzard would have fixed it by now seeing how it is a problem for alot of people but im starting to get the feeling they either can’t figure it out or don’t care cas we still play anyway. It baffles me that they re-released the game with all the same bugs. Why not just release it with out the bugs since they already fixed them years ago?
Same bugs? I don’t think these bugs existed previously.
They totally rewrote the Cata UI compared to Classic WotLK. Previously there was a bunch of the core UI with a few Blizzard addons. With Classic Cata, that core UI is virtually non-existent and basically every part of the UI is now a Blizzard addon. Additionally, it allows for selective loading whether the game is Classic Era, TBC, WotLK, or Cata so a single code base supports all the different game versions (this was more or less in place with the WotLK UI but the new addon layout expands on it). With how quickly they seemed to go from Cata beta to Cata release, I am not surprised an overhauled UI has the issues it does as I don’t feel they gave themselves adequate time to properly QA it.
As for having released it years ago, it isn’t quite that simple. We are not playing Cata on the original Cata game engine. We are playing Cata on what is essentially the current retail’s game engine, which necessitates some changes. And then when they add in goals like being able to support all of the prior expansions with a single UI in case they ever want to release TBC or WotLK again, it really is not just a nice easy copy/paste from what they had before.
At this point, I am just hoping it gets addressed in 4.4.1 with phase 2’s release. Supposedly it is coming out this month, but it isn’t on the PTR yet so not sure how likely that is to happen. The PTR was updated on the 2nd though to 4.4.0 build 55460, but it still has this same AH bug.
First of all I dont read all the chats…
If anyone has a lua pop up error message like me, this is how i fix(?) it…
There is an addon called “AdvancedInterfaceOptions”, that addon has the option to hide lua error. Download it, > open it > and uncheck the - Display Lua errors option. I Just done it on my classic cata.
Hope this helps someone.
That should not help any one as that doesn’t fix the issue. Like the /console cvar_default
suggestion earlier in this thread, it’s the equivalent to sweeping dirt under a rug… “I can’t see it therefore it isn’t a problem.”
Furthermore, you don’t need a whole addon to change the setting to hide the errors. Typing /console scriptErrors 0
will do it. Not showing the errors is also the default value for that cvar (which is why the cvar_default thing “fixed” the issue), so the only people your suggestion “helps” is those who have intentionally turned on errors in the past and have somehow forgotten how to turn them off but couldn’t be bothered to use Google.
This error is driving me nuts. Same story as most above, deleted all addons, uninstalled and reinstalled the game, still getting it. PLZ FIX, BLIZZARD.
bumping this it works

That isn’t a fix. Hiding errors is, as I said above, “sweeping dirt under the rug.” The game is still generating those errors – they just aren’t being shown to you. It doesn’t solve the real problem, and people should want those errors displayed so they know when addons are misbehaving so they can be fixed.
Also, /console scriptErrors 0
is much simpler than installing a whole addon to toggle the value.
Still broken, don’t close thread!
Still broken. Exactly as above comments for months now. Makes doing AH business a chore. Deleted cache, wtf, add ons, run repair and still persists. Its a blizzard problem.
