Cataclysm Classic Bug: Unleash Elements on Earthliving is not giving +30% on next direct heal.

When Unleash Elements is talented with Elemental Weapons it is supposed to buff the ongoing benefits by 50%. For Earthliving Weapon the base benefit is +20% to the next direct heal, so with the talent it should be +30%. The tooltip for Earthliving correctly reflects that the next direct heal should be increased by 30%.

For my character, the Healing Wave tooltip says it should heal for 6793-7322.
So when buffed by Unleash Elements it should heal for 8830-9518.
Upon testing the buffed heal actually healed in the range of 8461-9117
This is only a 24.5% buff

For GHW, my tooltip says it should heal for 21745 to 23437
So when buffed by Unleash Elements it should heal for 28268 to 30468.
Upon testing the buffed heal actually healed in the range of 27217 to 29185
This again seems to be a 24.5% buff to the next direct heal.

Unleashed Elements on Earthliving is not giving the full +30% heal that it should.

Unfortunately it scales “additively” with the passive Purification.

Let’s say you had no Earthliving and no points spent in the Resto tree, and your GHW heals for 100% * X.

With Purification activated, your GHW now heals for 100% + 25% = 125% * X.

With Purification and Unleash Life, your GHW now heals for 100% + 25% + 30% = 155% * X.

An increase from 125% to 155% is actually only a 24% relative increase: (155% - 125%) / 125% = 24%, which is probably the number you’re seeing.

The talent Healing Way is another spell that stacks additively; if you had both Purification and 3/3 Healing Way, the relative increase you’d get from using Unleash Life would be even smaller.
