Cataclysm Classic Firelands Raid ID: 276342902
Alysrazor died in the air on our 25man heroic kill. We can’t reach the loot or interact with the body for any of the legendary quest stuff! What do we do? This will set us back at least a week on making the legendary staff and on raid progression! please help!
Palinn was our master looter and Doomdk was our raid leader.
Thank you,

Did you ever get a response or get the cinders?
Nope, our GM sent in a ticket and just got an AI auto reply saying to submit a bug report,… great customer service! I remember when Blizzard would have a GM in-game making sure the loot was given out correctly! Now it seems like the players are punished for bugs. Really hurts when all that loot and legendary quest items get wasted cuz of a bug.
Just happened to our guild too. Died in the air yesterday can’t loot.
Hey all, we think that we’ve identified the cause of this bug, and it’s really quite tricky - though there is a possible workaround that may help you prevent it.
When Alysrazor dies, she has some scripting to fall to the ground. However, she can only do that if she can find the path to the ground (…as silly as that sounds to human common sense); if she can’t, she just stays put when she dies. For some reason, when she flies over the area by those lava pools to the south, she can’t find the path to the ground. If she’s killed in very specific circumstances while over the lava pools, she can’t fall to the ground.
Potential Workaround: Assuming that our theory on the issue is correct, if you do your best to avoid killing her when she’s flying by the lava pools to the south, it should prevent her from dying in midair.
We are working on a fix to at the very least ensure that you are able to loot her, of course, but it’s tricky.

For us it was near the lava pools but not directly above them. She died while about to cast firestorm. Looking at the replay she was not over the lava pools, and had a sizeable buffer between herself and the pools, though she did die slightly south east of center, but again not over the lava pools.
Yeah, but that’s the best waypoint I could think of. I guess that another way to put it would be “Don’t kill her in the south-southeast part of her path.”
If you look at how they restored loot in the past, they mailed it to the master looter. At which point, there is not tradeable option.
Let me guess, they just wait until the master loot is offline, put the items in their bags (hoping there is no full bag errors) with the 2 hour tradeable window for anyone with the bosses kill id. And hope the master looter can coordinate all that with the other 24 folks.
They’re not gonna create a boe that is tradeable that’s for sure. Nor any other new system that allows you to freely trade those lost items to everyone that may or may not raid log once a week. ei. mail the master looter a boss loot bag that has the loot that dropped that kill. the 2 hour window begins when the master loot opens the bag. so you hold that bag until next raid and do loot.
The ‘Tech’ for this fight is to kill the boss while it’s on the ground phase. Don’t let it get to a second phase 1.
Just happened in our 10 man raid. Submitted a ticket, I wasn’t able to get siphon essence.
How can I possibly keep up with all blizz posts to “be sure I don’t kill it over some part of the map”?
Doesnt need to be elegant! Quick script to teleport corpse to center of her room after 5 minutes would do it. If bug doesnt happen, no one even notices. Save our loot! Lets not spend weeks getting some fancy pathing corner case right.
That was pretty much the plan actually; it’s effectively impossible to hotfix pathing data changes, so that wasn’t ever the plan for a fix.
On that note, we just pushed a hotfix so that if she’s fails to fall to the ground, she’ll be teleported to the ground after a few seconds. This should bulletproof the issue.

So people who killed it in the air are just cooked essentially since a basic fix wasn’t put in earlier?
Thats correct, GMs no longer help with item restore when loot bugs.
Rag chest has issues too, it despawned on my team with the leggo quest items still in it, 1 minute after rag died. GMs simply point you here to file a bug and talk you in circles in the ticketing system with canned responses.
Its sad they cannot do invesigations, validate a bug occured, and mail the items.
We haven’t had this bug occur so far for our team on any kill, so I haven’t been able to try this out myself. If any posters here have an engineer in their raid, I believe you should be able to reach Alysrazor with the Loot-A-Rang toy(30y range), if you stand just underneath where the boss died in the air. Again, I can’t confirm that this works since we haven’t experienced the bug itself.
But yeah, might be a workaround for some groups. Have your engineer equip themselves with a Loot-A-Rang toy, and make them the lootmaster for that boss, and they should be able to distribute all the loot, even if the boss gets stuck in the air.
(Did a bit of testing the other day and I found no situation where there were pathing errors or similar, when using the toy on a creature or boss, even if they had died in a spot that I couldn’t get to without a flying mount)
If anyone have already tried to use this toy on Alysrazor when she’s been killed, and is stuck in the air, and found that it doesn’t work…I would love to get that confirmed as well.
We tried everything, Loot-A-Rang, Jumping off hills with slow fall,…etc. Nothing worked! Our guild master even stayed in the raid for a few hours hoping someone from Blizzard would help. No luck.
