So, you’re a casual group in a social guild, you run a couple of dungeons per week, mostly for the conversation, and you’re excited to finish a 14 on time because everyone was on main spec this week and only one player had a piece of blue gear on.
What are your foils in the dungeons this season? Ours are:
The boulders in Blackrook hold. Only 2 people can get to the top every time, the rest just wait at the bottom.
The Trash in Darkheart Thicket. Who’s big butt pulled that extra group - again? Leeeroy!
Morchi - Do you see a hat? What hat?
Rise - don’t forget, trash will come out of that first portal !
if it makes yall feel any better much earlier this season we had a top 10 NA player q into our brh and he also died to the boulders
he simply said “games hard”
I have timed tens on all but Dawn of the Infinite dungeons, mainly because I had not done them before. As a kinetic learner, I learn by doing. Watching a video does nothing for me, I cant absorb all the information.
For example, I had to watch a video to remember how to get into Blackwing Lair the other day. I had to pause the video, note where he went in the video, go back into wow, go to that spot, go back to the video, note he went left then right, go back into WoW do what he did and so on and so forth.
I have a 24 BRH timed and I waited at the bottom until the boulders stopped or were mostly done lol. I did try the other day again, and I made it mostly to the top before they stopped. Most keys though, I don’t even try anymore.
for some reason people take me to their keys even though i have a really nice habit of forgetting about the boulder stairs after 2nd boss, popping speed boost and running mach 10, rounding the corner and smashing my face into a boulder
Right? I am just thankful that people seem to laugh it off, at least the groups I have been in lol. I only run my tank alt with guildies though because no one wants to wait on the tank, at least I imagine they don’t.
On my healer main though, the 5-10 second delay isn’t the end of the world.
In Legion I would say, “The one who’s really good at this sprint to the top, and then we’ll run up.” Much faster than somebody being knocked down a couple of floors.
Of course, on a guardian in Legion I could hit Embrace of the Nightmare and Stampeding Roar and just run up to the top.
I tanked one recently where the same DH wiped us twice on that trash by gliding down from that tree into the same pack.
Naga boss in ToT; the damn swirls all over the floor everywhere with larger than shown impact zones is particularly annoying. The mobs are all over, so you can’t even just go ham to burn em because the tank might not grab them all. On my monk, dashing and rolling can easily get you killed because mid roll, a swirl appears and boom.
Timeways boss; normally this fight is A-okay for me. But I have noticed that if even ONE THING goes wrong, there’s a huge cascade into failure. Maybe twice I’ve seen a good recovery from a death or a blast wave going off in the slow zone.
Not related to your post but I hate the concept of the different “learning styles” because it’s garbage.
You think if someone identifies as a “visual learner” they just let them watch some videos before flying a fighter jet, operating a nuclear reactor, going into space, etc.?
Everyone learns better by doing the thing they need to learn (or a simulation as close as possible).
Never said that, never remotely claimed that. I literally cannot learn by being told what to do. I literally cannot do it. Thanks for making me feel small, though.
Where did anyone make this claim? Just because different people learn better differently, doesn’t mean that all other forms are negated in teaching and training. All forms are used to ensure maximum retention and learning.
Because doing the thing you’re learning is always the best way to learn it.
Of course there are some practical/safety considerations.
The different learning style concepts where people talk about audio and visual learning are a joke. Nothing with serious consequences is every going to be learned through any other method then doing it (or simulated as much as practical)
So basically you are calling me a liar. Thats whats happening here. You do not think I am telling the truth when I say I literally cannot learn by being shown or told what to do. Your right though, I will never hold an important job that requires me to learn via video or being ordered to do something, because I literally cannot do it.
You have a normal brain? GOOD FOR YOU. Not all. of us are so blessed.
