No you don’t have to, but you can’t complain about having bad gear when no one but yourself is preventing you from at least getting full 213 lol
Well then you shouldn’t care about losing to people that do care about rated content and actually try to improve at the game 
Not saying the system is perfect but don’t understand the people that sit on 200 ilvl conquest pieces that complain about not being able to upgrade
