I notice there aren’t any current running Q&A threads right now so I thought I’d use my knowledge of the lore for more than arguing in discord channels. Feel free to ask any question about the WoW lore and I’ll answer it to the best of my ability, I know some decently obscure stuff. Haven’t looked into Chronicle 3 yet though. I also do bionicle lore if that’s your thing.
Feel free to help out if you’re more knowledgable than me, this is for anyone to ask and answer questions.
i always had this question maybe you can help me out.
i was wondering why the burning legion provided us the means to get to argus BEFORE and JUST IN TIME for us to stop their “dark phanteon” where “no power in this universe can stop them”
instead of just… completing their ritual without invading azeroth and we would have no way to stop them.
i mean, thanks for reviving illidan and freeing the illidari losers!
Also another one, when we get to argus with the vindicar, the xenedar was hiding or it was just the best timing in the history of the universe and we just were a deus ex machima?
You mean the Sargerite Keystone and Kil’jaeden’s ship? I’m not sure if it was a “just in time” scenario, but Illidan saw an opportunity with Kil’jaeden’s trap and took it. It wasn’t exactly a race against time, but it was the only opportunity we were going to get. I hope that answers your question.
As explained in the cinematic I believe the intention was for the Vindicaar to rendezvous with the Army of the Light, however the Legion ambushed their meeting spot. During the paladin class hall campaign we see the Army of the Light get into contact with Azeroth, so there was definitely communication going on.
Listen, if you can’t respect the deep and complex lore that went into the bionicle universe I don’t know what to say to you
yes but if you think about it, if the legion didn’t invaded azeroth, that would mean that guldan would haven’t tried to revive illidan, that then started the chain of events where maiev release them and they would retrieve de sargerite keystone.
none of that would have happened if maiev didn’t release them.
the illidari would still be in prison, and illidan would be dead.
meanwhile, they could have finished their dark phanteon and killed us all, because there is no way that we could have get to argus in the first place.
Seems about right. It’s safe to say there’s more to her skill than she lets on (“You have no idea what I’m capable of!”) and the Greymane line appears to be well versed in combat. Her status as a political leader also gives her more leverage, something the Uncrowned might want to take advantage of.
From what I gathered during the quest, she was just pissed that the PC got the job instead of her. And judging by the following dialogue:
Vanessa VanCleef says: It’s a pity, really. Jorach did so much for me. He won’t be happy when he comes to and finds you dead.
So she may have planned to kill you then slip out. Maybe she hoped with you dead, she’d become the next Shadow. Though it seems her priority was simply taking her anger out on you.
As for her serving the Council, it was that or death.
The Warbringers Azshara cinematic states that N’zoth watched her for a thousand years. I take that as she ruled for at least that long. Exactly how long did the Kaldorei Empire last from discovery of the Well to Sundering?
At least! We know she’s been ruling for at least a thousand years, however the specifics are a little vague before the WotA. When asked about Malfurion/Tyrande’s age it was stated that nelves would lose count around the thousands. I don’t believe she was around when dark trolls first mutated into nelves, though.
They’re decently common, seen in locations such as Dire Maul and Highmaul…in the lore. In-game we haven’t seen any conclusive evidence of them, but I have a sneaking suspicion they look exactly the same as the male ogres.
I had to have someone point this out to me in a thread discussing new races when I suggested Harpy/Ogre since they’re both monogender races. I wish they’d make it clearer in game that there are female ogres.
Pretty sure there are a few images of female ogres around, and they look pretty much exactly how you’d expect them to look - big, thick, and… uh… female. In the chest area, I mean. Very female-looking.
The fact that Blizzard hasn’t bothered to make a female model doesn’t really mean anything.
That what I thought too. I haven’t seen much that gives you a full timeline on the empire. I though that Tyrande and Mal were around 10,030 maybe as WotA states that Mal is only a few decades old.
Here’s another question speaking of age, in your opinion based on her description in the first 2 books how old do you think Shandris is? I thought it was odd that she was portrayed as very child like, like single digit age range. Then though get to book 3 and she’s flirting with Jarod who already older than Mal…
