Alright again doing a weekly review as a casual dad guild on how the new raid is
Boss 1 and 2 are jokes beatrix was just nerfed too hard
Boss 3 drake- good spot as long as range stack and move together
Boss 4 beast master- as long as one shot mechanic isnt fix and fense blocks simple and fun fight
boss 5 Mason- as long as you have 1 tank 1 healer and like 2-3 dps go and kill cannoneers on the ship pretty easy
Boss 6 Council- Nerf herods light drops damage and that fights in a good spot maybe make Vishas peeled secret take like .5-1 second longer to go off because if one goes off its a wipe and one shot mechanics are to be honest dumb to me
Boss 7 voss- we wiped 5 times before running out of time just healers learning to deal with mechanics and needing to heal tank, it seem if our pally tank is not tanking our warrior and warlock tank just dies basically instantly either reduce her damage output or reduce the healing absorb by like 10k from 40k to 30k but with few more attempts def be able to get her
And last boss i still dont think 90% of players are going to kill
Are you not having everyone prepot a Greater Shadow Protection? It basically allows the kick group 1 mess up since the pot will eat most of the damage.
This was huge. It alleviated so much pressure knowing we could miss a kick and could keep going.
I still hate this mechanic as I think it makes melee unfun with kick on gcd but the fight swapped from slow paced and perpetually tense to slow paced and somewhat relaxed.
I think Council is a bad fight design overall though. The pressure is on mechanics that are dull while the more interesting ones are less relevant. If we aren’t going to have an enrage timer that matters this fight is kind of just lame.
I think I disagree, and believe the fight is better without an enrage timer. I do think it does suck for the 2-3 people rotating kicks the entire 5+ minute fight (depending on your group), but I think this is a fight that’s strength is in can you dodge all these abilities and make sure this one guy doesn’t cast and you win.
I do think they could do something like they did with Molten Core dispels, where dispelling did damage to the boss. And making it so kicking Vishas caused him to take like shadow damage from failing his cast, but now that there is basically no enrage timer it would make the fight easier, and I don’t think it needs to be.
Which is boring. Nothing hurts that much except getting blast wave into the pit, getting killed by Herod spin, or letting peeled secrets go off. All three are handled by the approach “let ranged dps have all of that fun, while melee focus kicks on Vishas”.
Bad fight.
Voss owns though so I’m not completely torn up about Council losing all of the hype. Raid simply gone down from A+ to A- when they gutted Council.
After the nerfs Voss’s only real mechanic is her tank busting ability. The blanket enrage nerf removed her dps check mechanic and Ignite(the only one of the 4 raid wide mechanics that did anything) hits like a wet noodle now. If your tanks are getting dropped, doing the swap correctly and I assume are in current content gear then its a healer issue.
We actually had more success on Voss just not tank swapping at all. Just have the tank roll in their highest mitigation gear, and throw a DR cooldown on them everytime they get debilitating strike and heal through it. Doing Tank swaps caused more issues because they the healers had to swap targets. We did have a backup tank ready incase the the main tank hit 20% hp in which point our warrior tank would taunt and shield wall, and then the main tank taunts back once they are healed back to full.
