Heyoo
Mele have cooldowns and gap closers with no downtime on their attacks.
Casters have coodlowns and can easily be interupted and have to stand still.
You can make conjure large fireballs from thin air but only if you stand still
This has never made sense yall. All casters, every class heals or dps should be able to runa nd cast. Can still be interupted but should be able to move.
Id personally be willing to lose some range for this ability
Thoughts?

Was it WoD that everyone got to run around flinging magic stuff on the move. I think.

It was MoP. WoD is when they started trying to put the cat back into the bag.

On the one hand, I kinda like that some classes have to root themselves sometimes.
On the other hand the game it’s current state is obnoxious for turret gameplay because sWiRlIeS

It’s hard to concentrate casting your nuke spell while running around
So either stay put and send out a slow or something
Or slightly longer cast times while moving

Evokers figured it out. Their range stinks though.

Shorter range in exchange for stronger stuff

I don’t PvP, so I can’t speak to that.
But I’m content with the mobility of the Warlock in PvE. Yea, we can’t cast on the move, but it’s not a game breaker. We (Destro) have all sorts of things we can do on the move (Conflagerate, Rain of Fire, Summon Infernal).
What I do not like is the channeled Demonfire spell. I have no qualms about interrupting a Chaos Bolt or Incinerate cast. But I loathe having to break a Demonfire channel, because of the cooldown. Just wrecks the whole thing.
But with Burning Rush, we can scoot about quite a bit and keep in the fight.

I think that perhaps if they went a bit more lenient with movement while casting on your first spells, making them fast/instant cast spells you rely on early on when you have zilch HP and are running around in quest greys and greens.
Movement casting should not be on that huge Planet Killer spell that sets the universe on fire

Spoken like someone that doesn’t melee

Yeah, as the other person pointed out, it was MoP. They started to open up where there were procs for casting on the move and also some abilities allowed for casting while moving, like shamans could cast lightning all the time while moving. Boomies could cast while moving in starfall. Mage and lock had to proc.
It was pretty awesome. Then Ion took over and reversed everything.

Incorrect. Lots of mechanics punish melee, hence why world first guilds typically bring more range. Example: Downtime on rashok when range run to Africa to drop their circle because they don’t understand what melee range is. Or mythic echo when they need to run out with volcanic hearts.
This is typically the result from poor planning and not knowing how to move properly with your ogcd. Most casters have some instants as well they can use to re position.
Have you ever tried to run while reading a book?
You would literally need to be in melee range to cast otherwise it would make zero sense to bring any melee to any fight apart from raid buffs. You would literally have 100% uptime. Stuff like blink if used properly results in very little downtime already.

I only have one such spell tempest fires little sparks while running act like a dot but not very good to say the least. I think all casters should have at least one.

You obviously don’t play melee if you believe that. We have to disengage from targets a lot or we take a dirt nap.

The gap closer/opener arms race will never end. Casting while moving felt cheesy and hectic.
I think the best “version” of cast while moving that I’ve seen is mage Ice Floes. And right now, they put it in competition with Shimmer.

I think this would be the way to go. Increase cast time by something like .2 seconds per second of movement. Maybe only allow it for your filler spell, for example Incinerate for destruction warlocks. That way it’s not overpowered, but it still feels better than being completely interrupted when you have to move.

I remember the days when I would play my troll elemental shaman in Pandaria. I used to cast lightning bolts while moving to kite an elite into a favourable area. Good times! Now I’m just a lightning bolt turret that occasionally drops totems.

On my rogue I just got feared, horrified, and feared again while 70 percent of my health at was dropped from chaos bolts during which I could do nothing because my trinket was on cd.
