I’m still struggling on what to play. What usually has it easier in mythics, delves, and world play. I’m mostly solo. Mages how you doing in delves so far?
It’s bad because we don’t have something to self sustain, it’s either kill fast, kite or be killed.
Our only source of healing is Ice Block healing, and that has been nerfed. You have to utilize Slow, Frost Nova, and other crowd control spells to keep going. Mages usually struggle early in an expansion and feel stronger as we get better gear.
we’ll have no chance at tier 13 delves. all the bosses and even some regular mobs are cc immune. cc is our only form of defense so yea we have no chance unless u vastly outgear it by doing m+ and by that point theyll be dead content lool

That’s not a problem if healer spec Brann healed anything worth a damn, but he doesn’t. And they just nerfed him.
Mages need a delve aura that increases Brann healing by 200% at least.
If you want an “easy” solo experience I’m just going to give it to you straight.
Warlock for caster.
Ret Paladin, Death Knight, and possibly Demon Hunter for melee DPS.
Casters will always have more trouble in solo play especially with Delve mechanics such as the spore things which explode on you which can stop your spell casts (sometimes over and over) leading to overwhelming groups of mobs killing you. EDIT: They nerfed the spore mobs so that now when you kill them, they STAY DEAD. Great change!
Mages have it tough because we essentially have to always be kiting, basically 98% of the time you are kiting on Mage. If you aren’t very experienced with Mage, just remember that’s a skill some people have a hard time overcoming on a Mage. As a long time Mage, that’s how I play basically all the time and face-tanking mobs feels very unnatural to me.
Melee have survivability and healing tools to face enemies head on, so they’ll always feel a bit “easier” in that regard.
The only big exception I’d say to melee being “easier” would be Rogue. I view Rogue as the Mages of melee. Very fragile and rely heavily on CC to stay alive. Do tons of DPS before you get killed kind of glass cannon play.
Evoker for mage/caster
Not to disagree, but as an aside I have always thought of Rogues as the “Do tons of damage before they notice you” kind of glass cannon play.
I would agree with this. Evoker seems to be the new hotness for caster classes and aren’t so much an afterthought in development this expansion like Mages, Rogues, Warlocks appear to be.

Oh yes, in PvP especially, a skilled Rogue will be able to control the fight near perfectly. The problem is developing that skill. Playing a Rogue is a very unique kind of skillset that might prove challenging in the same way Mage might to the OP, compared to rushing into the fray on a Warrior for example.
