Looks mana intensive, but if you have good mana management the tools look there.
You get free Flash tough. So it will help a bit.
Also eve if you play caster veneration a must sinse it will proc more than on melee one. Which gonna give some good group heal that doesnt need casting
I might be doing something like this
BEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAQAAJBAAAQJJFoUik0aINJJSSooIagkUSCJJEpBkIAgAAFgQSCC
I don’t even cast a lot with this build but it’s there if needed. You can change a lot to if something you don’t like or if you need some damage.
Recommend you try new changes on ptr.
You mean the blue bar that never runs out? What is “mana management”?
Pure casting is still going to be less effective overall, but you’ll be utilizing FoL more w/ Infusions for Holy Shock cdr, the emphasis is still primarily on instant cast spells. You aren’t crusader striking as often but when you do each one is more impactful for damage and HP. So there’s more casting then there used to be, but it’s still not your primary focus overall.
The changes are designed to give more flexibility. So having to be in melee all the time is not as punishing, so that your basic heals feel more useful, so it does not feel completely bad if you are out of HOPO, and so you have more useful options than wings.
You will cast a little more, and it will be far more useful so when you need it like when no HOPO and movement is happening you can. There will be quite a bit stronger spot healing than exists now but you will have to set it up a little but nothing like some other classes.
Caster paladin is viable right now. I play as a caster spec and did 140k HPS on mythic Kazzara last night putting me at 85th percentile for my ilvl range. Yes, you lose out on DPS, but unless you are doing bleeding edge content then that really doesn’t matter. (It is worth noting that despite using HL/FoL as fillers and generators, they still make up a tiny percentage of your overall healing)
10.1.5 will only make caster spec better. My only complaint is that 2.5 base case time for Holy Light is still too slow and I really wish they would cut it to a 2 second cast.
It is to slow but that is why it gives so much HP but I think that is kinda bad since the holy light might never actually heal but let’s say we give up 1 HP on infusions to make it faster.
If we want it faster something has to be taken or since we use Judgement more Selfless Healer would be amazing right now.
Hand of Divinity (1.5s) will give you 2 instant holy lights every 1.5 minutes - with an 80% buff and 50% mana reduction - using it also allows an easy 16 seconds extension to Tyr’s Deliverance (which has been significantly buffed).
Or just go with Divine Favor to reduce the cast time of Holy Light by 1/3rd - and it also gives Holy Light a nice 60% buff and 50% mana reduction.
it works just fine
Yo should play shockadin with focus on Free Flash of light to reduce Holy Shock instead of casting HL
That’s what I’m doing since the patch. Holy Light is miserably slow with our arsenal of instant cast ranged abilities and the 2 HP thing often results in wasted HP from going over cap (since you can get an extra 1-2 on top of that). Holy Light is just in a miserable spot atm.
I play tested the PTR and I repeatedly warned Blizzard that Holy Light was too slow to be used and that the change to 2 HP to infusion Holy Light is a mistake. Lo and behold, Holy Light is unusable now.
The problem with this is that Hand of Divinity and Divine Favor have a cooldown - by themselves they are not very good talents and they don’t fix the core problems with Holy Light. The other issue is that our current talent comp doesn’t allow for either of these talents to be taken - it also requires a talent point in Moment of Compassion / Resplendent Light which are also not worth the talent point.
As it is extending Tyr’s Deliverance is very easy to do with Flash of Light and Holy Shock spam.
Maybe PvPers might make use of either of those talents - I don’t know, I don’t PvP - but for PvE they’re pretty bad.
