I just got a mail from someone I don’t know.
“WTS M+ 10-15 dungeons. Best price. Fast start. Pro team. 10% discount code “******”
Visit our website …net”
It even came with one gold!! 1G!!!
Got me laughing. So I checked out some of these “service” websites. Man… do people really pay for these “services?” why?
You must have missed out on the old spam advertisements in trade chat on Illidan and other high pop realms way back when WoW was SUPER popular. You had to get spam addons to stop the spam advertisements and stop whispers from level 1s nonstop. The /who used to work very well so they’d spam whisper max levels nonstop all the time “hey want to get carried and get gold?”, “hey want to purchase gold,” or “hey want to get carried in arenas?”. It happened ALL the time.
So yes people do use them. It is against TOS / EULA but yet people do it. shrug I just play, take my time, have fun and don’t care about “being the best”. It’s a game. I would rather spend my money on mounts / pets from the in game store or something IRL rather than some “service”.
Have you ever gotten a phishing email?
Humans are subject to be stupid, ergo scammers (or black hat hackers) will use every opportunity to exploit their victims by claiming someone their not.
As a result, they might use a piece of malware like a keylogger, virus, or spyware to steal credentials. Be it credit card info, passwords, or social security numbers.
In most cases in WoW, it’s hijacked accounts.
You shouldn’t go to shady websites.
Ya know what I miss? the army of level 1 orcs / trolls in orgrimmar dying to spell some gold selling sites name.
