Capping flags while invis?

I’ve seen this so many times, I can’t figure out what’s going on. Literally, a flag I’m standing near, staring at…will suddenly convert to alliance and then the capper will appear from stealth.

How is it possible to cap flags without losing invis/stealth?! Is it just lag (I’m not lagging anywhere else, at any time, but who knows)…

It must be lag… you can’t cap while under stealth.

Right, simply put you can’t. But I have to say…I never lag, almost ever…and it’s hard to believe I lag for the 5 seconds it takes to cap and suddenly I’m good again.

I’m convinced there’s an exploit out there somewhere…maybe with invis potions, idk…something is going on, because I’ve seen it over a dozen times.

I do this all time and I’m a mage.

I “saw” a rogue in Seething Shore a couple months ago that I was pretty sure was using some exploit, because he was able to cap every node for his team, up to 1400, without being seen or doing any fighting at all (no kbs, no damage, no healing). After the second or third cap (I happened to be nearby for a couple and raised an eyebrow) I started just basically watching for him at the nodes while fighting, and they would cap but I never did see him. He stopped when they got to 1400 (maybe to avoid getting in trouble?) and I think we actually won the battle, because we were still capping and I guess everyone else on his team was just farming kills or something. I’ve always wondered what their bg chat was like in that match.

Sometimes you can be sneaky and hit the node from the other side and they don’t see you in time (because the flag/node obstructs their view), or sometimes if they hit it from stealth they’re almost half-way through the action when they fully appear. So sometimes it could be lag or just good sneakiness.

Exploit or not, all the more reason to be vigilant on defense. Nothing better than pulling off a ninja-cap, but nothing worse than giving one up. I’m curious what classes you’re seeing do this, and in which bgs?

Generally druids and rogues. The last one I was staring at the farm flag in AB and it was capped by a rogue, whose nameplate (and character) only appeared after the cap. He wasn’t obscured by the pole, because I watch for the nameplates.

Ah, that sucks. I’ll have to watch out for that.

If you think there’s a glitch/exploit going on why not report them ingame. Type up a quick “capped while stealth wth” real quick. If there is some funny business afoot, I doubt anyone will admit it even exists here.

You can cap under stealth ?

https://www.wowdb.com/spells/66-invisibility
Invisibility> I did 2 times in AB and cap the flag that way.

Hunters with camouflage, that’s how I roll in that map.

Look at this post I had it going on in that BG.

I am well aware that mages have a limited invisibility … I am surprised that you are able to cap under stealth though . I have a Rouge alt and for sure I can’t cap a flag under stealth at AB. I have tried and it does not work.

I come out of stealth when I start capping It’s all about where you stand. For instance, if there someone standing right there at the flag I try to stand right on top of them. most of the time they’re not looking for that they’re looking for incoming but I’m already there.

You’re a DK. You’re suppose to be aoeing that flag so that doesn’t happen.

Please no not me, I promise I will cap more in BG’s.

I’m a rogue and I do this to assault nodes all the time, I’m problaby one of the ones doing it…

If you’re too far from the flag for me to “sap and cap”, what I’ll do is stand on the opposite side(behind) the flag, destealth, and cap. Since I’m undead, my character model is small and thin, and from your camera angle, you can’t see me hiding behind the flag.

Keep an eye out for the “particle animation” (shiny dust) that appears around the flag while it’s being capped… It’s easy to miss that when you’ve been defending for a while and your eyes start getting lazy… That’s when the sneakiest of the sneakiest rogues (like me) ninja flags.

Thats probably whats happening.

This is my newest rogue - level 39, I have 1 at 120, 1 at 110, 1 at 100, and 1 at 90 btw and been playing rogues since 2006 so I know the tricks. Us rogues specialize in that sort of tactic

LOL

The better rogues can do this (see the description from one above). Never seen mages/hunters do it successfully myself but I guess they do too. And yes, it is vexing. lol

Night elves specifically can perform a stealth bug. Kind of the same thing as a sap bug going around where you can frame trap during an animation and sap the player during combat. I’ve seen it on stream.

They could be bug abusing and you should be reporting them as you cannot cap anything while in stealth.
