Can't use the auction house?

I’m on the server Dreamscythe, and i’ve been able to use the AH for the past couple days, and now suddenly it says access is restricted? Why? I’ve played wow for years, and while i did come back for the anniversary, it wasn’t like my account was in violation of anything.

it will unlock 26 days after your credit card was charged for gametime.

They was lifted the restriction and now they reactivating it again.

That’s bullcrap, i paid for full access to te game. I’m not a new player, but a returning one. This just makes me want to dispute the charges with my bank and end my account with wow. Thought it would be cool to come back and play classic, but apparently blizzard has no respects for their playerbase to make sure their changes don’t affect the wrong people.

You should do it. I don’t know in what other industry this would fly.

Imagine subscribing to a streaming service to watch a new movie/show. But after they take your money, they block you from watching it for a month because of their unrelated issues with credit card fraud.

Open a support ticket.
There’s one that’s specific to this issue.

Can you tell me where i can find that issue? I don’t see it as a ticket item.

Got to:
https://us.battle.net/support/en/

Click “Get help” on the top right right below your account name.
Click the “Create new ticket” button in the middle bottom of the screen.
Select WoW(Top left game)
Click “I would rather categorize this issue”
Click Account.
Starter Restrictions are on the bottom row in the middle.

That doesn’t let me make a ticket though, it tells you to check your order history or reset your password, which i did, but gives no option to make a ticket.

That I can’t help you with.
Maybe ask in the CS forums?

Not even remotely close to the same thing. At all.

The restrictions in wow prevent botting & gold selling.

Netflix doesn’t have the same concerns or issues.

What an L take

I’m sure Netflix would feasibly drive down credit card fraud on their platform by restricting new accounts from experiencing the full retinue of programs. Why would you go through the effort to sign up for an account using somebody else’s financial details if you can’t even watch anything good before the card is cancelled?

Even if it isn’t like-for-like, I understand the theory but they’re fighting RMT by off-setting the pain to the consumer. I would be very curious to know how clearly - if at all - Blizzard communicates this during the creation of a new account. Given they originally advised they hoped to keep the change under the radar, I’d wager not very clearly. At best, it’s anti-consumer. At worst, it’s illegal.

The illicit gold market(This is according to a CSR I talked to in the CS forum earlier) is run by actual criminals who hack people’s accounts, steal their CC, steal the gold they sold them right back, steal and sell all their items, among other things.

It’s a multi-billion dollar industry.
That’s billion with a B.
Just in WoW gold.

sounds like a solid plan you should do that if you feel you arent getting your moneys worth.

I’d believe that.

It doesn’t change that it’s blatantly anti-consumerism to punish paying customers because the company can’t resolve their own problem.

It would be more fair if there was some warning before you subscribe that all new subscriptions are subject to a four week probationary period during which they will have limited trade with other players. Then, consumers could make an informed decision. But by Blizzard’s own account and the experiences of multiple forum posters, it seems this is information is deliberately obfuscated.

But this is the type of stuff AAA gaming gets away with on the regular because consumers don’t hold gaming to the same standards as other industries for some reason.

Those paying customers are part of the problem.
If people actually reported bots and refused to play with people they knew bought gold things would be different.

We as a community should be ostracising any proven cheaters instead we make jokes and say “It’s none of my business”.

Choose item mail option, under technical issues. Then where it has the item field just put N/A and describe your problem. It’ll get to the right peeps.

While I agree players should generally take reporting more seriously, a few points:

  1. While there is data that most players ignore rather than report offensive conduct that is against the ToS, I’m not aware of any data suggesting the same for gameplay exploitative behaviour such as botting or RMT.
  2. We don’t know how effectively Blizzard’s actions player reporting of gameplay exploitative behaviour.
  3. Player reporting is only one tool in effective game play moderation, and it is reactive not proactive.
  4. Some paying customers are part of the problem.

But again and most importantly - irrespective on your views on the appropriateness of the response, it’s obfuscated from the customer before they make the purchase. Customers aren’t providing informed consent if the probationary period is hidden from them. Same as how shops must provide a warning that they reserve the right to check bags as a condition of entry (and even then, just because a company says they can do something, doesn’t make it legal).

I only have anecdotal evidence regarding reports.
I’ve personally gotten a small handful of bots banned and one Gold & Power-Leveling seller(That was an instant response, I reported the Trade chat message and like 2 minutes later I got a "THANK YOU FOR YOUR REPORT!)

The reporting system does work but honestly we live in the era of AI there’s zero reason they can’t just unleash an AI onto the chats and let it automatically silence people for saying nono words rather than relying on the apathetic WoW community to report people dropping N-bombs in Barrens chat.

Any paying customer who turns a blind eye to RMT(“mind your own business”, “I don’t care what other people do.”, “People buy gold on retail how is that different?”) is part of the problem and there’s a lot people with that attitude.

The only way to combat these people(the cheaters) is to make them feel really unwelcome in our communities. Start kicking them from our guilds, parties, and raids.
Make them afraid of losing their raid spot or guild take.
Make them afraid of losing their account.
Make them afraid of losing their server rep.
