I’ve been loving WW so far but when I leveled on my priest I found both my hero talent trees require optional talents to use at all. If this is the case then make at least Void Torrent Baseline or something because this is just weird. The halo abilitiy isn’t even a shadow priest ability which is fine for flavor but is it not baseline then?
This feels like a lack of foresight IMO and something needs to be changed about this pretty quickly.
You’ve created these awesome talent trees that I’m glad to see back in the game but I don’t get to use the new power systems because the builds aren’t baseline abilities like every other hero tree I’ve seen and theres no extra talents in my build to take those abilities.
I can swap dark star for halo, but why not incorporate both abilities that are chooseable into that hero talent tree. Who designs a class around optional talents anyway, like wheres the quality control in that?
The talent trees pull double duty as both customisation of builds and learning spells through the levelling experience. This is the case for pretty much every class and spec in the game.
If you’re running a shadow build without void torrent you built the spec “wrong” as far as blizzard is concerned, same with if you chose not to take one of DA/Voidform.
A lot hero talent trees require non baseline abilities to function.
It completely removes the POINT of being able to choose your spec if Blizzard’s decided it’s mandatory to have a specific talent point invested in order for hero talents to work. I have to agree that it’s complete garbage to demand it and on my other characters so far it’s not calling for me to put my talent points somewhere at the bottom of my tree, completely forcing my hand on which way to spec.
Player choice just got removed if you ask me, and that’s not even close to okay. If we wanted cookie cutter, we’d have been cool with old talent systems years ago where choice was minimized and specs were oversimplified.
I fully believe the player should be able to choose how they want to play, and then tailor their character around that playstyle.
At present, I feel like I have only the facade of choice; neither option provided is fun to me, and both suggest a departure from the freedom I have historically found joy in. One tree turns a spell I dislike into a rote ability I need to near-mindlessly press, and the other relies on the kind of micromanagement that I, as an individual, am completely incapable of handling.
So, my choices are to play something I don’t enjoy, fail at being a team member, or play something else.
I agree the required abilities for hero talents should be baseline or at least at the top of the tree where we have to take those talents. Having Halo in the middle and Void Torrent at the bottom of the tree doesn’t feel good.
Update: I found a way to build to make it work and still be fun
But it doesn’t negate the fact that hero talent choices of this spec should not be optional choices for BOTH hero talents.
MM hunters get an ability added that interact, and I’d say we’re both on par with about how many buttons to press. Spriests get forced to take a channel ability that functions the same as another channel ability.
This feels like a redundant talent.
A fix would be to give power torrent as the first hero talent and add something new to take its place on the tree. or give it baseline since the rotation has holes from all the cds
