Vaskarn sells the downgrade crests but there are no upgrade options even after i have 2 of the achievements. what should i do?
If you have reached the season cap for that type of crest, I believe the option will not show at the vendor until your cap has increased with the following reset.

This is correct. Trading up was never meant to ignore the season cap but rather to simply save you some time getting relevant crests if you have leftovers of the old (or are still doing enough old content to get old ones).

On a sidenote, what are the achieves for these even? The info online is kind of confusing on how to go about being able to trade up.
I feel like in week 3 there isn’t even enough whelp or drake quests to upgrade every slot yet, but people have the achievement already?
The achievements are that simple though, you just have to have acquired a piece in every slot such that it’s impossible for you to spend whelp or drake crests. As an example, if you got any piece to drop from raid or M+ that was already 450 or higher, you’ve immediately satisfied the condition for whelp crests because the system takes your drops into account when determining crest discounts.

Does crafted gear count as well?
Yes. If you think about it, you’re spending a rough amount of crests equivalent to the upgrade levels you’re getting with crafting (45 wyrm crests or 60 aspects). That’s the main reason why waiting to craft with aspects if you can afford to gives mega upgrade value since you skip like 4 entire upgrade levels for that slot.

Oh right that’s an interesting point as well.
I still have my heroic crest rewards from R20 + Fyrakk kill. Still deciding which 2 slots to make 476 gear.

I forgot to ask if this achievement is acnt-wide, or do we need to spend the crests on every alt as well to unlock it?
I feel like if it’s acnt-wide that would be almost too good, but if we need to do on every char then that’s quite alt unfriendly, and that we’d never really have the extra whelp/drake crests on alts to even use in first place, to upgrade.
It’s character-specific just like crest discounts are.

Gonna have to plan out my alt’s upgrade routes more thoroughly to try and make best use of crests.
Do you find you’ve saved much time/effect etc…upgrading crests to heroic ones, compared to just say spamming quick +11’s?
I haven’t gotten much opportunity to use the buy-ups myself due to my remaining lower crests falling in weird numbers this week and last week, but I’m sure it’ll save a little time when I do have those numbers.
